For a long time I thought NWS was just cattle. But it can effect every warm blooded animal that includes people. Of course the media won't say that.
I'm a whole whopping 55 miles from the Mexican border o_O though we don't have as much cattle as the Texas-Mexican border it's still a concern. I should check into more NWS wise. Of course we get all sorts of other things from there that we shouldn't.

Slept crappy. I believe Bay woke me. Yeah, up at 2:30 😵‍💫. Feeding at 6:30 & at work by 8. Came on for today's "news" and not ready for it...not the bad parts 😞. I'd like to go to bed but it's only 6:30 & I'd be back up at 2 or 3 again more than likely. I'll settle in and wait a couple hrs.

I didn't sleep either last night. So tired. Stormed so bad today. They are full of something if they think 20 mph gusts. 20 mph gusts don't bother me. What happened this morning was more like the one time we had 70 mph gusts they claimed were 30 mph gusts that took out a TON of roofs, barns and structures in a straight line for miles. At 10 ish am the pellet stove quit. Have been trying to diagnose and fix all day. It's dead until DH gets home at this point. Blown fuse replaces but now the auger won't stop feeding pellets. Trouble shooting says it's the board which is over $200. We don't know what we'll do. Put $200 plus into the board to find out something actually blew it then have to replace it again. We aren't supposed to even be here anymore. Guess we'll wing it until DH gets home and figure it out from there. Only 1 plug in heater left here. The rest are at home. Asked him if he could pack them in his carry on luggage. 😂 Heated blanket and 1 heater it. Cat's should suddenly really want to be loved on in a bit. Oh and we are no longer storming and flooding tonight we're in a freeze warning. :barnieI've once again gotten pretty much nothing done I wanted to spend the day doing. :he Had to treat one calf this morning. Our horse who foundered last year felt frisky this morning running around his pen and bucking. Now he's standing on 3 feet so I guess I need to get him out and see what he did. I'm guessing bruised his already bad feet. I did make another batch of egg bites. Used up remaining things I've been trying to make them with. Each time I've made them I've "fixed" one thing. I think this time they turned out pretty good. I added some chipotle with adobo powder to the top of ones for DH. That will guarantee he will have some available when he gets home.
Haven't been online today except playing Ryan Hall Y'all's live stream in the background. Need to get up and do a few in the house things before it gets colder in here. I did manage to make capsules last night. Not all of them and it's been so cold in the house the fillers are still wet from washing them last night so I guess I won't be making more tonight as planned. Need to get critters fed before it gets too cold and make sure everyone has fresh straw bedding. Everything is still very wet and flooded here. Need to try and dig out some sheets to lay over plants for tonight. At least the wind seems to have stopped now. Might be able to keep sheets on now.
My husband and I were just talking about all of the invasive species that have come into our country. Some stupidly released that were pets and the ones that come in on ships and in shipping containers, I wouldn't be surprised if those weren't intentionally placed there. Not to mention the imported fruits & vegetables, that insects come in on. The world is becoming smaller and smaller.
They sell highly invasive plants here at the local nurseries. I can't figure out why or how that's allowed. Especially with all the stupid laws we have here. We have a big problem with red eared slider turtles. They've practically wiped out our local pond turtles. They sell little baby ones all over. They grow super fast and big and people release them. Now they are out of control. It's crazy.

Well I am a bit warmer at the moment sitting under the heating blanket. Have two kitties on me too. Amazing how loved I am when it's cold in the house and I have the heating blanket on. Debating running to town and getting a heater. Could always use it in the basement at home later on. I guess we'll see how I'm feeling in a bit. Think I'll go vacuum some floors and cobwebs then figure out a plan. At least want to get that done. Been on my list for weeks. :hide
Y'all have a great evening! Stay safe anyone in the path of the storms! :hugs

Coffee is ready. I have no ambition.

@RR Homestead I'm sorry that your heater isn't working. I've never had a pellet stove, but I've had quite a few wood burning heaters and fireplaces. In this Redneck Mansion, I have electric heat and a small propane heater. I run that heater a lot during the winter with the electric heat for back up. Rural areas in Texas are scattered with co-ops. Plus Texas has it's own power grid. If you live in a co-op area, there is no other power company available but I get darn good service. The co-ops came about because there was no power available in rural areas, way back then. I prefer co-ops over the mish-mash of power companies with their crappy service.

Phone just told me that it's -11 outside...
We got the day off today, still going in to work, but also enjoying not having to be up and going super fast. Might even take myself out to lunch because I can.
It's nice to have a bit of time to be lazy. Haven't had this in a while.

Nope -11 is NOT on my play list. It's even hard to imagine. Our low single digits just a few weeks ago is still haunting me. 😳 Some fog here this morn. That's enough!

Trying to decide which store(s) I need to work today. One hadn't received the plans for 3 jobs, so on hold. I'll call to see if that box arrived. Anyhooo, another can be worked. Then, weekend arrives 😁

I'm lounging with my coffee right now. Low 50s outside so no big "dress for it" issues to do chores. Reminds me, I'll get a stack of winter coveralls washed this weekend. Will pack most away for next yr, as I don't anticipate needing them until then. Hopeful at least.

-11. I cannot even begin to deal with that.
Around -11 your nostrils may stick shut briefly during a long inhale. Watch those fingers and toeses, they will cool down fast with the wrong wardrobe and hurt when they warm up. And Lord help you if the wind blows. I grew up on the high plains and a friend from Point Barrow AK told me we had some pretty respectable cold.

Cocoa coffee today, I haven’t had that in a while. Gardening to do, lots of clean up. Moses, Leo and I walk a wide patrol then the sheep get turned out. Moses ignored the bottle lamb after a jail break. She danced the hoochie-koochie in front of him and he passed the test. I still wonder if he’s thinking “Okay. I can’t eat THAT lamb. How about THIS one? Or that one over there? I think he’s limping….”
