@RR Homestead You may own the tank. I own mine, it came with the place. I can call any company I want. Ask the previous owners. I use a company that has a 75 gallon minimum purchase. I have a gas stove, hot water heater and the small propane heater that I use. If you have gas central heat, it will use more and if power is off, it won't come on. Ask questions about the gas log fireplace, it might do in a pinch. Or you can buy a propane heater and have the gas company run a line from the tank to a valve inside the house. It would be cheaper to run than the central heat because it won't require electricity. Glad your DH made it back safe!
Good info. I looked into getting a gas (propane) stove, once. The bureaucratic hurdles were extensive and expensive. I finally passed on the idea. I love the idea of a wall propane heater, but would probably face the same government overreach $$$ as with adding a stove.

Why I hate to drive at night!

About 1/4 mile from home, a damned deer ran into my truck!! 🤬 Skid marks on truck from door to just in front of rear tire, big dent there and it ripped the rear tail light out as it slid on off -- apparently! Driving along, a big whap and looked at side mirror to see light hanging there at rear. Stopped. Placed light back in place ( it'll need reconnecting to body but works). Surprised deer wasn't in the truck bed!

Turned & drove back to see if it was laying along road...didn't see one but no doubt it's out there hurt/ dead.

Certain it wasn't insured....but I'm not covered for it either. Annoying! Might be able to suction dent out 🤷
Glad you're okay, deer can be deadly!

The stove is propane. I suspect that will be a huge learning curve too. DH said he tried to use it but apparently the igniter is going bad so that's now on the list for repairs too. We just keep finding more and more and more things that need fixed or replaced and we aren't even living there yet. :barnieWhere's the shelling out more and more $$$$ while crying emoji 🤦‍♀️
I've been on propane since almost forever. Not bad. As for the igniter -- I know that when the power is out here I can still use the cook top I just have to provide the start with a flame (I use the same bic lighter stick I use for gopher bombs). I actually tried it one time the power was out.
As for the tank -- there are usually options to buy or rent - at least it's that way out here. Natural gas is not an option - it's either propane or electric.

When people in towns like mine design bear proof things, they have to deal with the considerable overlap between the smartest of bears and dumbest of tourists.
I read about a law in a Canadian town that prohibits people from locking their cars. It's to give people a way to escape if a bear is threatening. I think it was in Saskatchewan?

I could not wait to get back to propane... HATE electric stoves. This stove I can light the burners by hand if needed, the igniter is electric... cannot light the oven...
I am looking for a stove when I go to PA next... Amish/Mennonite country... they cater to all propane, no electric igniters and all that... Maybe this coming year...

Raining here, steady. Caleb needed to go out, what a sad, soaked pup. I dug out Cleo's "robe", and it snugs up enough to fit him!

She was over 65 pounds, he's 35, so I wasn't sure it would work.

He's drying faster with it on, but the best part is no showers when he shakes himself!
