Thanks for this! Going to look farther into this.Woke up at 2 something, got up at 3 something. Had my coffee, dark outside, phooey.
@RR Homestead I'm starting to use homeopathic remedies on my sheep. So far, I like the results. I'm using a worm remedy that is working great for the lambs and most of the ewes, but if the ewe has a heavy load, not so great. I lost 3 ewes to worms that nothing was helping, not even different wormers. But at least my lambs aren't dropping dead at 2 months old this year. Lambs haven't had time to acquire immunity to parasites yet. It looks so far that this remedy is holding off the worms, all my lambs look good and are healthy. Last spring was horrible. I lost 11 out of 31 lambs, even working with a vet using her protocol. I only kept 7 ewe lambs, took the rest to auction. They might have survived, but were pathetic scrubby little things. It's getting so that the parasites have immunity to the chemical wormers even though I don't have monthly run-them-through-the-chute-and-worm-them-all mentality.
I'm also using a respiratory remedy. I had rams break out and chase heavy bred ewes in 100 degree heat. They were ready to drop dead by the time I got home. They got snotty noses, heavy breathing and no amount of antibiotics touched it. Then I got the respiratory remedy. 2 applications and snotty nose is gone, breathing back to normal. That remedy might be good to use before and after moving your cattle, for shipping fever. Looking at the cattle brochure I got, it has a shipping formula, Travel Stress Relief.
There is also a scours relief.
This might be worth looking into. I'm using the method where I mix some of the remedy with a half gallon of distilled water, in a one gallon pump up sprayer, shake it up to mix it and spray in their nose and mouth.

I'm sure you are right. Funny I don't hear of that being a problem in states that allow harvesting. I'm sure it happens but not a real problem. Seems the damage would be more expensive than it's worth.I believe their reasoning is so that people won't intentionally hit an animal out of season, without having a license to hunt. So stupid, who's going to wreck their car to hit an animal on purpose. Can't let the peasants take the kings deer, without paying for it. More government overreach.
That's for sure. I have more of the former available than the latter.Trust me...a license & bullet are cheaper than vehicle repairs! I'm not sure if VA requires you to report a hit & pick upprob do.
I think it just missed us. I walked Caleb about 8pm, and it was raining, but the rain hitting my face felt sharp.WELL --- I have snow!!
BIG, wet flakes. Can't believe it!it's white all over & still coming down. D@$#m,....
Started in last hr. Wasn't happening at feed time.
unexpected. Unwanted.Grrr
That they are! But, the meat isn't wasted. They have a kill list. When you hit a moose, you call the troopers, and they start calling everyone on the kill list. First one to answer the phone and agree to run right out and harvest, gets it.I hear Alaska is really tight with moose killlike really??? You'd hit one on purpose?? And how would you pick it up?

The return window may be up before I get there but we're going to try and get me there before that time. See if we can get it fixed or returned at least. Hundreds of dollars sitting in a faulty unit. We'll see how fast we can get the trailer loaded. Currently the plan is to just go and hope DH can handle any issues that come with the beef cows that are going to calve soon. In theory there should be nothing that needs done but then again if I am 2000 miles away that's when it will happen or when he's an hour away at work all night.

just spotty, ugly stuff. Schools are on 2 hr delay, so overall things aren't bad for the area. 100 miles north, different story but I'm not there. Cold out. However, sun is bright & things will quickly improve. Is this my winters goodbye? Hope so.
