Woke up at 2 something, got up at 3 something. Had my coffee, dark outside, phooey.

@RR Homestead I'm starting to use homeopathic remedies on my sheep. So far, I like the results. I'm using a worm remedy that is working great for the lambs and most of the ewes, but if the ewe has a heavy load, not so great. I lost 3 ewes to worms that nothing was helping, not even different wormers. But at least my lambs aren't dropping dead at 2 months old this year. Lambs haven't had time to acquire immunity to parasites yet. It looks so far that this remedy is holding off the worms, all my lambs look good and are healthy. Last spring was horrible. I lost 11 out of 31 lambs, even working with a vet using her protocol. I only kept 7 ewe lambs, took the rest to auction. They might have survived, but were pathetic scrubby little things. It's getting so that the parasites have immunity to the chemical wormers even though I don't have monthly run-them-through-the-chute-and-worm-them-all mentality.

I'm also using a respiratory remedy. I had rams break out and chase heavy bred ewes in 100 degree heat. They were ready to drop dead by the time I got home. They got snotty noses, heavy breathing and no amount of antibiotics touched it. Then I got the respiratory remedy. 2 applications and snotty nose is gone, breathing back to normal. That remedy might be good to use before and after moving your cattle, for shipping fever. Looking at the cattle brochure I got, it has a shipping formula, Travel Stress Relief.

There is also a scours relief.

This might be worth looking into. I'm using the method where I mix some of the remedy with a half gallon of distilled water, in a one gallon pump up sprayer, shake it up to mix it and spray in their nose and mouth.

Thanks for this! Going to look farther into this. :hugs
I believe their reasoning is so that people won't intentionally hit an animal out of season, without having a license to hunt. So stupid, who's going to wreck their car to hit an animal on purpose. Can't let the peasants take the kings deer, without paying for it. More government overreach.
I'm sure you are right. Funny I don't hear of that being a problem in states that allow harvesting. I'm sure it happens but not a real problem. Seems the damage would be more expensive than it's worth.

Saw a couple hundred Elk on the way into town today. There's a wildlife reserve, near the Hanford Nuclear site. That's what we drive past every time we go to the Tri-Cities. Hubs worked out there for awhile when he was an apprentice electrician. After he became a journeyman he got the job with the PUD and as our children liked to say, "became a dam worker ". lol

I hear Alaska is really tight with moose kill 🤷 like really??? You'd hit one on purpose?? And how would you pick it up? 😁😵‍💫
That they are! But, the meat isn't wasted. They have a kill list. When you hit a moose, you call the troopers, and they start calling everyone on the kill list. First one to answer the phone and agree to run right out and harvest, gets it.

It is super great for the poor folks out here. Grocery prices are terrible. When we first came to Alaska we were given some meat from a road kill moose... it was the first moose I had ever had, AND IT WAS SO BAD. Clearly that moose didn't die quick!

Actually, I have one friend that hit a moose just right, so that the head of the moose POPPED OFF THE BODY and went sailing into the ditch. When he called the troopers, they came out, and were going to charge him for stealing the head (I think you can sell them??). They didn't believe him when he said the head had popped off on its own.

Anyway, he was insistent, so they walked the ditch and finally found the head!

Good morning all! :frow
Well the trailer is officially being loaded again for another load home. New camera system is already down and customer service says I "just need to reboot it". Um I'm 2000 miles away. It's not that simple. "Well can you have someone go reboot it?" Ya. I'll just get on that in an area we know no one and no one has a key. The closest key is 1 1/2 hours away and we are NOT asking him to drive over to reboot the system. Especially not knowing if that will fix it. :somad The return window may be up before I get there but we're going to try and get me there before that time. See if we can get it fixed or returned at least. Hundreds of dollars sitting in a faulty unit. We'll see how fast we can get the trailer loaded. Currently the plan is to just go and hope DH can handle any issues that come with the beef cows that are going to calve soon. In theory there should be nothing that needs done but then again if I am 2000 miles away that's when it will happen or when he's an hour away at work all night. 🤦‍♀️We really need to keep moving. Otherwise I am stuck here another month and a half dealing with the beef cows calving (only 1 is a heifer) and the last dairy heifer calving that will need calves and milking for a bit. Really need to get this sick calf healed up before I can leave also. I'm seeing a bit of improvement tonight after the new med but I'm not holding my breath. Could just be the pain meds helping again and once they wear off he's back to being really ill. I think this is his last chance. If he improves for real with this round we have a plan in place to hopefully get him healthy again. We have another smaller storm (or so they are now saying) next week so that should complicate things with his recovery. Great news is they are all keeping up with the main milker and I see no more issues so far with mastitis. They are out on our bigger green dairy pasture and at the moment she seems to be poo free. Her calves being with her are keeping her out farther instead of up laying in poo or mud areas. The jersey heifer is doing a really good job so far with her calves. They seem to be keeping up fairly well with her production now so I am only milking when we need house milk or cream. Her sick calf seems to be healthy now so hopefully those two calves on her are good to go now.
Got the last of the sheep stock out of the freeze drier tonight. It's now defrosting. I have one and a half loads of goat stock pre frozen and waiting to be done. I also have two trays of lemons waiting. I'll probably do them as the second half of the goat stock load. Then I may call it on the freeze drier and get it packed and moved. I'm so nervous to move it. I really find it hard to believe after all the trouble we've had with it that it will survive the move. Guess we'll find out sooner than later.
Guess I'll get a little more done before bed. Y'all have a great day! :hugs

I slept until 4:43! Got a load of clothes in the wash, folded the blue jeans out of the dryer and maybe I'll get the sheets changed today. Just haven't been doing much of anything. A guy came out yesterday and picked out 8 of the older ewes that I'm letting go. I hope he buys them. I priced them cheap at sale barn prices for older ewes, but without the hauling them and without the sale barn charge, I'll do better if he buys them. :fl

Snow report....got about an inch, fast & furious. Very wet stuff. Bouts of big wind gusts followed, then some light rain. This morning the snow is half gone :clap just spotty, ugly stuff. Schools are on 2 hr delay, so overall things aren't bad for the area. 100 miles north, different story but I'm not there. Cold out. However, sun is bright & things will quickly improve. Is this my winters goodbye? Hope so.

Coffee is hot & plentiful. I'll be off to work shortly.
