So I got hurt a while ago running, and instead of maybe resting like a logical person would do, I well, ummm, ignored it and kept running.
About mid last week, I got to the point where I can't walk normally. Not something I enjoy doing, but I tested equipment that isn't the treadmill in the gym today.
Time to head into work, one more week before spring break.
Yeah, I kept pushing myself, after all, aren't we indestructible? I found out the answer to that is a NO. Sez the ol' Baymule with a sore tummy from hernia surgery to repair the damage done to myself.
You are on the fast track to knee replacement surgery. I never ran like you do, but I ran a mile or two several times a week, plus other body abusive activities. Some day I'll probably have to do the other knee, it's starting to act up. The summer that I roofed houses, in my 20's, instead of going down the ladder at break time and waiting my turn, I just jumped off the roof. 9 months after knee replacement at age 66, I put a new roof on my house, but I darn sure used the ladder. I cannot point to any one injury, but rather an accumulation of "fun." I've always rolled at high speed, wouldn't change a thing. Just know and understand that the price will have to be paid and it comes due.

Thankful you're on the mend. 💗

I hear those sounds in my head all of the time...tinnitus...I hope I never hear them from my lungs too.
I'm genetically hard of hearing, add in all the loud machine shops and welding shops I worked in, loud music, gun shots and other fun things and my ears never stop ringing. It sounds like a doorbell in my head. Now if I could just get it to play a tune I could sing along to (badly to annoy everyone) it might all be worth it. Not using hearing aids, I'm saving that as a miracle cure and I don't want to be disappointed this early in my old age.:lol::gig:gig

Just got my second cup of coffee. This recovery stuff is boring. Yesterday I let the sheep and Buford out on the field. Layne wanted to sort out the 2 ram lambs and carry them across the driveway to a pen. I told him that feed would bring the flock running back. So he gave them feed and all the sheep ran back in the night pen. I've been opening the end sorting gate on the chute, to let them out on the field and it does a good job of training them to line up. I asked if he needed help, no was the answer. Ok, so I watched as the first ram lamb walked past him and out on the field....... Mission failure, maybe today.

I'm actually shocked I haven't done worse to my knees. I almost expected something to blow this fall and need surgery. Current issue is calves and shins. Driving me nuts that I can't run, but I am finally listening to it, and I should be back to walking normal by the end of the week.

You might need to hang up the running shoes while you are ahead and find another way to exercise. Join a gym and do workouts.

Got first breakfast ready. Should be just another 10.5 hour work day. And then a couple random things to do after work.
I have classroom chickens, and I mostly love them. But yesterday morning, I decided to pull one out and put it on my shoulder. The dang thing somehow managed to eat my (cheap) earring. And then poop down my back and onto both pant legs. Not too thrilled with that chicken... it was a good thing I had workout clothes at school. Would've been a fun trip home to grab clean clothes.

Running just a mile a day right now (used to be like 8 a day). And working out in the gym afterwards. I'll rehab and get back to racing in a bit.

I will preach it now like I preach it to the wife, bicycle or swimming. My hip is so bad from war I can only swim, even the bicycle is out for me. Thought about a indoor swimming pool in the new house.... Wife likes to run, I use to pedal 100 plus miles a weekend and that's after pedaling all week. Take that strength and apply it to running in the service and you couldn't catch me, probably still can't as the wife can't.
