Coffee anyone ?

My dad had sciatica. He would sit on the floor and slide a tennis ball under the sore spot on his buttocks, then roll around on it so it would massage the spasm.
When I went to PT, the lady was saying it is a pinched nerve, but that pinch could be in a number of different spots.

With me, I bend forward too much, on the couch, at a desk... always forward. And I can't remember if mine is pinching in the hip or spine... but I am supposed to stand, lean my rear against a sturdy table, and gently lean back, then hold.

Also, sitting down with a hard fat book under ONE cheek, to make the hip bones sit crooked, that helps to un-pinch the nerve.

I would definitely look into leasing a bull for a 60 or 90 period... get them bred in June/July so the calves come in the spring once you are well settled there...
If the jerseys have calved once already, they should be able to handle most any angus bull... yes a "heifer or easy calving bull" would be a plus... but mine get bred to whomever is in the field once they have calved once.
Buying a bull is going to cost you in the $5-7500 range for a decent one with some sort of "record" as far as easy calving low birth weight or something... I would go with an angus or a lim-flex.... angus limousin cross... limi calves tend to be longer and "lean" as opposed to blocky built front ends. I would NOT do a simmental or a hereford.... both tend to be wider front ends .... Salvage value on a bull is about $2/lb around here for 15-2000 pound animals... so about $2500-4000 for a salvage value of the bull.... half of what you paid for him is a good figure to work with.
I don't know how many cows you have but renting/leasing a bull for a set period of time would be preferable... get the calves on the ground all at the same time for uniformity in the calf crop... and anyone that does not catch, then could be bred AI.... OR SOLD.......
Make sure that you have the bull covered by the farm insurance, and have a written agreement with the person leasing him... if he breaks a leg, breaks his penis, wrenches his shoulder or gets stifled.... you will have some responsibility....needs to be written in a lease in case of injury.... we figure the bull is worth $5,000... they lease for $50/cow for 60 days ....or $500/month.... and they feed him obviously... if he gets hurt, then whatever he brings at the stockyard comes off the "value".... and the lessee is responsible for the difference .
Fascinating and excellent info.

Back in the dawn of time.... my grandfather would always buy his bulls from an excellent breeder that he knew, that raised truly wonderful polled Herefords. (Does anyone even raise Herefords anymore? Well...moving on...)

My grandfather would buy a young untried bull. And then he would keep him for maybe 2 years, and then sell him as a proven bull.

My grandfather said that that way, he made money on the bull, and the young bulls were much less likely to try to run through fences. I think my grandfather was proud of his truly terrible fences.

Kidney stone hit again last night, then round 2 (3? 4?) this morning. This is getting old.

I left a message for my urologist, and she's usually prompt to reply.
I have used cell salts for various things. I know that Calc Fluor dissolves bone spurs, it might work for your kidney stones. I took 4 tablets 3 times daily for a bone spur on my heel, I couldn't even touch my heel to the floor. In a week, the pain was greatly lessened, in 2 weeks it was gone. I took the remedies for several months, bone spur gone, never came back. It's not expensive and it might work. Worth a try.

I actually slept good all night. Woke up at 4. It's 44 degrees outside, that's cold! Going for second cup of coffee. Going to Corpus Christi this morning, middle granddaughter is in a school play tonight, I'll come back tomorrow. Layne was going to go too, but he went to Houston yesterday and got a job. He might have to leave tomorrow, they will call him today to let him know.

Well, great that Layne was able to be there during the worst of your ills. It was a real blessing! Now he's got to go to work. You still have a couple weeks of "be careful"...just a reminder 😉 Behave.

Worked in freezer resets yesterday -- again today 😵‍💫 Then on to laundry crap. Don't know which is worse.

But things at home are holding their own 👍😊 so that's good. That bagged up doe was still holding onto those kids when I got home yesterday. Maybe today?

Actually slept thru last night. Seems a snack shortly before bed helps. Thinking my blood sugar may be part of this annoying waking up -- I've noticed nights I do that snack, I usually sleep better. Hmmm. Something to watch. Right now, coffee & chores done, need to go to work.

You probably already know that multiple pairs of good freezer gloves make a huge difference. Gloves can be dried under the hand drier in the ladies’ room. I scared my boss when my Reynaud’s kicked in and turned my hands blue. Laundry was awful especially when the HE varieties came out. At our Super store we carried 27 varieties of Tide alone. Waaay too much soap.

So...my urologist did not reply to several messages. I called my primary doctor (PCP), asked admin if I could come by and provide a sample. Admin was obviously over her head, clueless, but after a long wait on hold told me to come by.

I was so cold from fever that I turned the car heater on full and hot. I went into the doctor's office, provided the sample, and tried to give the admin my latest insurance information. It took her 10 minutes to enter it. I told her that my prescriptions need to go to Harris Teeter. I went home and crawled under a blanket.

I got a message from the urologist's nurse. She wasn't in the office, go to the ER. Uh...NO.

I checked back with my PCP. Admin said she thinks the doctor said I have an infection, will call in a prescription. She "thinks"? I asked her to clarify, reminded her that the prescription should go to Harris Teeter. She said she'd call me back. She didn't.

Urologist sent a message around 10pm for me to make an appointment to come in, to give a sample. I had indicated in a previous message that my primary had a sample already. The urologist's office is about 20 miles away, which I don't feel capable to drive as awful as I feel.

In the morning I called the primary doctor's office. Admin will confirm prescription being called in. "To Harris Teeter" "Yes".

Ninety minutes later I called the pharmacy. No prescription on file. I called the primary. Long wait on hold. Doctor will be calling it in.

Call back from primary admin...where should this prescription be sent?
:he

they all have too many varieties, & too many sizes of same, it's BS!! Frozen? I just use latex gloves, generally enough. But I carry some cotton ones to go over-- in case. LOL it's DG, ain't no blow dryers. Lucky to have paper towels. But done with freezers for this wk. 👍 Yeah, you know how much fun I have! It's a paycheck, set my own schedule. 🤷

@fuzzi I'm sorry you're so sick :hugs But you worked in medical, I know you know the incompetence. Shameful really -- esp the no call backs. No wonder people die! 😳
