Coffee anyone ?

Hey all, already got started on my coffee.

I think the only time that it snowed a foot this winter was back in early January. But Mother Nature sure is funny, and the Yellowstone entrance was supposed to be opening 8 this morning. Well it snowed all day yesterday. Was starting to come down when I left for work, and when I came home, we had about a foot. Honestly, biggest storm of the winter  .
Yellowstone entrances are supposed to open at noon today. I'll go for a drive at some point to see Old Faithful or some place like that.

Been a long week, and I am working tomorrow too. Time to head into work.

Good morning all. I reviewed hemlock toxicity and found the ewe had the symptoms although symptoms can be the same for
other poisons. A mouthful of hemlock can be lethal and springtime leaves can be tempting. No other sheep have died. Queen Anne’s lace mimics hemlock but has hairy stems hence “the Queen has hairy legs”. We will check around for plants. My walkabout scoundrels stuck around the house, groaning when lying down for naps. They refuse to believe they’re too old to chase around the woods. The water company is flushing lines, the dogs played in the resulting stream. Came home clean for a change. Well time to water. Have a good day everyone.

I fell asleep in my recliner before 10, woke up close to midnight and trudged off to bed. hit the pillow-wide awake. read a book, went back to sleep around 3, slept until 7 and now I feel all washed out. Blah

@RR Homestead meet the neighbors and their son. It might be a good idea for the son to check on things for you, if parents approve.
That's the plan. Maybe I can even hire him to check the cattle for the week or so I'll be gone coming to get the other load of cattle. He previously helped the previous owners from time to time.

I'm sorry to hear this but glad you figured it out at least.

:highfive: Saturday morning -- made it thru another week! Yah! Been 88-92 all week & today 85 suggested but 52 at get up...coolest night all week. Tomorrow thru Tuesday we'll only be at 60/40 day/ nights. 😵‍💫 Well, I have a bunch of super sale apples to can. It'll be a good time to do that. Prob bake a chicken, can bone broth, while everything is out.

Today -- half day at job work. Then I can be home Monday.

They baled hay across the road. Saw over 100 rolls carried off. About 75 sq bales had been done the day before. Pretty stuff. Better talk to them about price & line up winter hay. We're not hard on water yet but, never know. Light drought now. Was working in NC yesterday, about 35 miles out & they're severe. Western VA is extreme. So, I need to use local while it's available.

I hope everyone realizes these weather patterns will severely affect food prices. Crops will be reduced. Irrigation is very expensive. Fertilizer costs way up. Gas prices increase transport costs. What will get to market will be much more expensive both food and feed!! Plan ahead.

Home grown veggies will be golden 😁

Coffee is good this morning. Going to nearest auction today, taking 2 ram lambs. Auction is in Livingston, 54 miles away, lousy one for sheep and goats, but 2 lambs aren't worth going 3 hours away. That beautiful tri=colored ram lamb that I was so excited about did not grow off very well at all. He has only one testicle and when touched it quickly slides back up in his belly, probably where the other one is. And it is very small. Very bad trait. The other ram lamb is nice, but only kept him to be company for the other one. I'm disappointed.

55 here to start... cooler than the past several days. Sun is out coming over the tree tops. The trees are leafing out fast with all the 85-92 degrees we have had the past several days.
Possible 30's Sunday night and Monday night with the "cold front" that is coming through and supposed to bring some "scattered light rain".... We are pushing the 4th week of severed drought conditions. Ground has cracks everywhere. Grass is growing, but won't much longer if this keeps up. The little 3/10 and 4/10 showers 2-3 weeks ago watered the grass enough to get it to keep growing and the sun and heat made it come up fast.. but the hay is very short, and the cover crop of wheat across the road is also short.

What @Mini Horses said... this does not bode well for the crops this year... or the prices of food. Human or animal...

Morning all! Got home yesterday. Did a walk about to check on everything. Chickens all accounted for, looks like blocking the fence has kept my wandering hen in place... crazy girl. I didn't count the bees, but looks like we still have a lot of them...lol We'll be doing hive inspections today or tomorrow. Some of the new trees we planted are growing, some are not. We'll give them a little more time. Need to mow the lawn, that definitely grew.

There's no place like home! Have a lovely day! 💞
