Coffee anyone ?

Up at 4:30 🙁 breakfast & coffee done. It's 37* out & only high of 60 expected. More unusual weather.

Didn't go to work until noon yesterday. All animals fenced. Home at 5ish, notice on door from animal control @4:10, goats out. 😖 Neighbor called¿?? Ok, notice 2 wks to fix fence (guess assumed how they got out) :idunno A couple just jump it! Don't know which ones were out....another problem to handle. Saw no fence breaks after walking it. I'll deal with it! May just sell the known escapees! There's 3, all nice young does. Hate it but, less problems....if they just didn't cross the road, wouldn't be an issue! The hay fields -- no other houses near.

Beyond that, things seem ok. But it's early yet, things may change. Might need more coffee 🤔 Looks like I may stay home today & watch what happens!

Up a little after 5 then I planned, but it turns out I didn't need to be up any earlier than I did get up. Beautiful warm day forecasted today, I'm off to work to take the kids to a track meet. But also, snow most of the days in the foreseeable future forecast. Funny how we had such a mild winter and we got a ton of snow last week, and now more is coming.
Trying to look ahead to the weekend, think it's time to take a Yellowstone drive before it gets too busy. The anticipation of that will keep my brain occupied with hope for a while.

critters will come home on their own...
Yep...mine do. But ya know how it can be! They're NOT animal people. Could be that animal control was just cruising by & saw them :idunno   Who knows!

It's my responsibility to keep them here. I've had herd meetings & explained it 😵‍💫 Some don't listen! Time to get hot box fixed.

Watch for the ethanol increase, on May 1st I believe. It's going from 10% to 15%.
:ep
We need to do the homework regarding the ethanol increase. It shouldn’t be used in certain vehicles or in small engines (chain saws, mowers). I can’t provide a link  but the info should be out there to be searched.

I went down the rabbit hole. Boats, small engines and Off road vehicles don't run well on the additional increase in ethanol in the gasoline.

We buy clear gas for our mowers. Now to look up clear gas... ahhh - clear gas has 0% ethanol in it. It helps keep the carburetors cleaner.

With the increase in the ethanol percentage, we all will get a tad lower gas mileage. I have to have premium in my 2015 SUV so this loss of gas mileage will probably mean that my gas costs will go up, even tho adding more ethanol to gasoline is supposed to lower the price.

THANKFUL for the battery powered mower and such... Yes, it means increased electricity bills... so a trade off probably... but not having to have engine problems and not having to worry about the increase in cost of the non-ethanol gas, is better for me, for the "small engine" things... DS uses all the "clear gas", what we call non-ethanol at the pumps here... in the chain saws he has and I used to use it in the older riding mower that is here. Not running now... very finicky to keep running... that is why I bought the battery one and I am very glad. Batteries are expensive but will last for several years if used properly and stored inside where they don't freeze in the winter...

All this ethanol to use more of the corn crop that helps to "inflate" the value of corn... yet when we have a real food shortage, then what are they going to do if the corn ground is converted to other crops to feed people???? Or more is fed to animals to feed people... or there is no water to irrigate so the corn crop doesn't produce...?????

LOTS of WHAT IFS....

In the meantime, we just keep paying more, and wages go up to cover that, then things cost more because wages have gone up... and the poor dumb farmer is supposed to make do with less and less because of the country wanting cheap priced food... and the gov't has to SUBSIDIZE the farmer with gov't payments because he cannot get enough to pay his expenses on the normal open market...

Round and round we go....

Good...afternoon!

Chilly this morning, so I wore leggings under my skirt for Caleb's walk, and for working in the yard. Crazy for us, we should be in the mid 80s by now.

Last year I bought a Greenworks trimmer after reading how @farmerjan likes hers. It has been a big help!

Left side was like the right side earlier this morning.

:weee

I have a 5 gallon metal gas can, purchased several years ago. I fill it with the ethanol free gas I purchase for my mowers, and can get through March to November on less than two cans, about 8 gallons. It's priced higher, like Premium, but is worth it to avoid damaging the mowers.
