Coffee anyone ?

My 95.5 yr old Mother gave us kids a scare yesterday. She had a fall and then was conked out for over an hour. She's in assisted living.

She was at late lunch. She was freezing to death. This is the 5th time over as many years that this being freezing has happened. Her friend, Pat, got Mother settled in bed, with the elec blanket on high. At some point, Mother got up to go pee. She fell hard. She pees every 5 - 10 min cus her bladder is worn out. There is a very expensive med for this, but Mother won't take it cus it costs too much.

A plumber was there in assited living and was doing various jobs. He was walking by mother's door and remembered that she had a problem with her toilet. He walked in and found her out cold.

Short story is she now has 5 staples near her ear, had a temp of 104, and didn't have anything else wrong with her. They put in a catheter and she was very unhappy. They were keeping her in a bed in the emergency room overnight, not transferring her anywhere else. I'll know more today when sis gets there. Oh, she didn't want to go in the ambulance cus it costs too much money. Mother's AGI for 2025 was 5.5 x what I ever made in high tech as a manager.

Deep sigh...
:hugs

Okay, need to tell mom that there is a new program for senior citizens, that is not being talked about much, that they are doing studies on elderly people for this drug... because it may have a side effect of making her
Pick your reason
1) making her bones stronger so less risk of hip fracture
2) making her eyesight better by improving the pressure in the cornea/iris or whatever
3) side effect of helping her balance with inner ear pressure improvement
4) WHATEVER you can put over on her to get her to take the medicine that helps the bladder control if you all can afford/ or her medicare or whatever can afford... to take it...

Sounds like she is a pretty frugal person... is she computer savvy??? If not, you ought to be able to come up with something to get her to take the med...at this point, God will forgive you a small fib if it helps her...and everyone else, to get some bladder control.

Fire blight is nasty business, I've seen it take out half an orchard.

We've never painted anything on them and haven't had any issues in the 40 years we've had fruit trees. I don't think the orchards around here paint them either.
I’ve seen other people use white house paint, tar, manure and Elmer’s glue. I wonder if the peach will provide its own bandage. The apples I Pruned (spell check got me too😊) seemed to ooze a sealant so I left them alone. I’ll take small bites and see how it goes.

I'll be praying for her. 95.5 is amazing. My mom made it to 93. Tough little ladies. 💞

Good afternoon all! :frow
Had one cup of coffee. Ready for more.
Pork lunch meat is cooling and the beef salami lunch meat is marinating for cooking tomorrow.
DH will be up soon. Trying to get a few more things done before he gets up. Going to be a busy weekend. Hopefully DH can get the truck finished up and we can get back to packing the trailer. Need to call and order truck tires so I can pick them up next week. Really want to get back on the road and get this move done. Plus I need to get home and get the mail. It appears to be very hard for the post office to forward mail. Looks like they just delivered our first pink slip to the house mailbox instead of forwarding it. :rolleyes:Had a package going out in the mail today here that the driver didn't pick up. Managed to put today's mail through the note I left but didn't pick up the package. Online postal site wouldn't let me schedule a pickup for today yesterday. Was able to schedule one for tomorrow now so at least they have an "order" now.
Need to get some of the nurse cows and their calves moved around before dark today. We'll see how this works out. Going to try and see if we can put a couple together and all the calves still do ok. There's a lot of thieving that goes on with these nurse cows calves. Pastures are drying up quick and getting short so it's time to move some but we're a little short on milk/nurse cow pastures right now.
Time for more coffee. Hope y'all are having a blessed friday! :hugs

Movie date with DH. Fun movie and I ate way too much popcorn! :pop🍿🍿🍿
