Got rained out for a bit... I got the big weed eater, and wheeled it around and got some done around the back deck, and the tree and shrubs that buck cut down awhile back... The tree was a rose of sharon that had been overcome by some weed/crappy tree and it had to go... it had killed some of it... and there was a huge bush that kept spreading, that had tiny white flowers in the spring for about a week, then was just "there"... tired of mowing around them. So, Buck had cut them one day when he was here doing some other stuff for DS across the dirt road; then had to cut the branches away from the opening across from me where we go in and out with the hay and equipment... and some stuff here in the yard. I had mowed close one day with the mower, but this was much better... got down close to the ground and didn't worry about tearing up the blades etc...
But it was partly sun, then clouds, then thunder, and then a real good rain... hardest rain we have had so far. Really came down... then steady for about an hour... Now it is partly cloudy, humid, and I am going back out to see about maybe doing a little more.
I got some Pink Lily of the Valley pips the other day... and set them to soaking and got another planter ready for them. I want them to get planted as we are supposed to get another bout of showers/rain/storms to go through later tonight.. That will settle them in real good. I want eventually to get them planted around/under the maple tree out front here. But getting them a good start and not accidentally run over with the mower is the goal for now... Had them marked down at Walmart.... so I might go get a couple more packages. There are only 2 to a package, but Lily of the Valley usually spreads good with runners... and they only get 12-18 inches tall and the flowers smell wonderful. One of my grandmother's favorite and "no-care" plants. Good in shaded areas and as a ground cover so to speak. So if I can get a few clumps growing, then they can spread in the area I want them to and fill it in.
So, that is what I am going out to do right now... maybe weed eat a little more. The daffodils that come up in big bunches in the lawn; the leaves are dying off as they always do, so I am mowing them off with the weed eater as the mower flattens them and then they die and leave a bunch of "dead spots"... this cuts them off at the ground level and then the grass grows somewhat and fills in the spots. There are 2 big bunches of them... and are pretty in the spring, so going to leave them. I had thought to dig them up and move them but not going to.
So, while it is "dry" I am going out to do that and see about getting the eggs and maybe take a ride across the road to check on the nurse cows and heifers. Then something for supper... Ate lunch when I got home before... getting more and more weary of eating out as seems there is something that does not agree with me most places... Cannot take the congestion, coughing, difficult to breathe crap all the time...
But, all that aside, we are getting rain...going to slack off for a few days and get in the 80's... this is really helping by soaking in so good...
