It's such a beautiful day... let's cut down some trees! 😁

Well, I wound up being the equipment operator today. Didn't bounce him off once...lol

After cutting branches he tied ropes to the tops. That will help control the direction they fall. Easiest time we've ever had getting a rope on. Dale has always used a bow and arrow with fishing line attached to the arrow. Then tied to a rope and pulled up and through a loop. Works really well, but a little more time consuming. All of the summers as a kid spent carp hunting, paid off...lol💞

The trees look a little different.

I will be glad when they're down.

I've had a lot of dead trees here. My doublewide was ringed with huge oaks when I made my offer. Before we closed, 5 were dead. I had them taken down. 2 trees left standing in the yard, then one of those died. I took down fence and a friend came over and took it down for firewood. 1 tree left in the yard and it hangs over the power line going to the house. Only shade left, I know it needs to come down, but I sure hate to. Tree out in the middle field died over the summer and a friend came over and dropped it. I had a enormous dead tree taken down in the middle field that was loaded with wire from being used as a living fence post. I told the tree cutter to cut it high so as not to ruin his chain on the saw. We did some trading, he wanted a ram lamb I had and I only had to pay him a little.

It's so sad for you to lose all of those trees. I'm assuming they were the live oak trees with the cool branches? I love those, sadly I think it's too cold to grow them here.

We lost a Sequoia that a friend gave us, a silver maple and 2 cut leaf white birch trees to disease In our yard. The 40 poplar trees Dale took down in our treelines were also diseased and we've had quite a few trees blown down from the wind. Before he took them down, a poplar fell and totaled our new car. Landed right on top of it. We knew we needed to get the rest out. He's been cutting down trees for quite a few years. It was a huge undertaking. We dug a huge pit and had to apply for a burn permit to keep the fire department from coming to our house...lol. So glad we're almost finished.

It's nice you could work out a deal for removal. I'm glad Dale was able to take ours down. There's just no way we could afford to have that many trees taken out.

Well, just got the first big thing to accomplish on my non list day...lol

I need to wax two of the cedar hive boxes Dale built this summer. We will be using them as holders for the top insulation for the winter. I'll post pictures of that once we get to that point. He also cut a box down to use as spacers for the sugar blocks we will be putting in to feed the bees. So those also need to be waxed.

Can't find the roller I need for waxing the boxes. What a surprise!😤:gigNow I have to go up into town and people :sick ..lol I'm turning into such a hermit!
Oops, posted this in the wrong thread. Moving it to where it belongs...lol

This is our very first coop, almost 35 yo. It was built for our first flock of bantams and it's kid sized. 💗 Dale put it on sleds so we could pull it around. Eventually we placed it in the corner of our yard and built a run for them. That was after we learned the hard way that there were dogs roaming around and they killed off a good portion of our flock.

It was to the right of the roofline you see in the background. We built that for the peacocks. Dale attached chains to it and I ran the telehandler to lift it over the roof and old chicken pen.
