Second tree is down! Yay, such a relief.

Hubs chopped through the roots. It's great that we could use this method, so that the root system went with the tree.

He tied a rope to the top of the tree and ran it through a pulley, then chained it to our pickup.

Down it goes. Sorry it's a little wonky, I was driving the pickup and shooting video at the same time.
Hubs view.
Would not have wanted this to get much taller.

Removing the trunk and root ball.
I like watching the videos, thanks for sharing.

What are you doing with the wood?

I'm glad you enjoyed them. 😊
For now, Dale will cut it up and stack it. We have a wood stove. But we don't use it very often. I have some asthma issues and it used to set it off. I'm doing much better with it now, since I changed my diet and lowered the inflammation in my body. So smoke doesn't bother me as much anymore.
It's a lot of wood. We probably won't use it until it's seasoned.

You did a SUPER job of videoing AND driving the truck to pull it over...

Smart system to get it down... and it fell in just the right spot... Yeah, you would not have wanted it to be much taller...
Thank you Jan! That means a lot. 💗

He is very good at what he does. Using pulleys works so well. We've done it with several trees. I think of the 40 plus trees he's taken down, he's only been a little off maybe a couple of times.

Hubs got the tree cut up today and started loading it, so he can move it off of the lawn, I'm leaving tomorrow.

Filled the hole where the trees came out with rocks. I told him he'd better mark it, so he never asks me to dig a hole there! He says, "I'll mark it with this plastic bag", goofball! :gig💗

We have a lot of rock on our property, above and below, small, big, bigger and huge...lol

Teamwork on taking down that tree. We used that same method to get a tree to fall where we wanted it to, but we just ran a rope around another tree. It works great. You did good, gotta keep the tension on the tree and GO! GO! GO!

I love your chicken. Who says chickens are stupid? She’s pretty darn smart to have figured that out!

That's unimaginable to me...lol. A good portion of footings for our house were poured on top of rock. And we had so many that needed to be dug out for our daylight basement, before we could build. If I lived closer I'd give them to you for free....lol
