Have you tried tossing those skeeter things in the water to help keep them from breeding in it? The water pump in my whiskey barrels keeps them out of there. I get it though, they are everywhere. They are so bad here the cattle lose weight so they have to spray
I have minnows in all my water features that eat the larvae. The problem is the SWAMP nearby, and other people's junk (neighbors) that holds water.

Our county doesn't spray but, will give you the mosquito pellets. Just go by and pick up. There's a swamp run about a mile away but fish & birds take care of most of those. Water tanks are used & refilled daily, so that's not an issue. Darned gnats can be troublesome.

I figured you would have fire ants! I still am using the Texas Two-step method of controlling them. First is birth control pellets, second is poison for survivors. Two years ago I treated some 50+ fire ant hills in my backyard (1/6 acre) and now I am treating one here, one there.
:pop
Where do you get this poison?

Where do you get this poison?

Addendum: I have been using it for two years, not run out yet. Consider that when you see the price.

Mowed the other half of the backyard.

It didn't take long for the hens to spead out the clippings.

Zacchaeus is a year old. The two lighter hens are Hannah (front) and Rahab, they're 2 years old. The two darker pullets are 11 months old, Joanna and Priscilla.

Primroses are close to blooming.
IMG_20250501_182409107.jpg

These are direct descendants of the primroses my mother grew, as my eldest sister and I are keeping the line going. Our neighbor offered some to my mom back about 1970.

They've traveled with me from Connecticut to South Carolina, and now North Carolina. I fried mine in SC, my sister sent me some replacements, and I replanted in a sheltered spot.

In the heat of summer they die back, appear to be dead sticks, but once it cools down in the fall small leaves emerge next to the soil.
