Wednesday after work, no eggs in the Sussex coop. I moved a block to expose insects. I think Joanna got really excited, suddenly she squatted, and laid a shell-less egg!

They have oyster shell flakes, so it's strange. I got out the calcium citrate with D, dosed Joanna, Rahab, and Priscilla. Hannah was too wily to catch.

This afternoon I found a small egg, probably Hannah's, she has always laid slightly smaller eggs. I caught her, and the aforementioned hens, all got a pill.

After dark I took two of the cockerels off the roost, secured them in a basket. In the morning I am taking them to meet their new owner.

I always have oyster shells for my girls. Once in awhile they will lay soft eggs. I never thought to dose them with calcium citrate

What dose do you use?

They're bantams, so I'm giving them half a tablet, the whole tablet is too big. I'm supposed to dose for 5 days.

OK - I've never had to pill a chicken. You just pop it in their beak?? LOL - mine chickens only have slight interest in me when I'm tossing scratch. Admittedly I don't go in their run to sit and snuggle them either. Dogs and sheep get that time :hu:ep(though at the old house they did come when called until they had to be "Fort Knoxed" because of the coyotes).
