Today I met the dog I was interested in adopting. She's perfect, I want her. I can't adopt her before I retire, though, as she'd be crated for 11 hours a day.

I offered to pay up front. They said they can't hold her.

I'm hoping she's still available in 2 months.

If not...it is what it is.

I have a friend who is a former foster with that organization. She said it's not about money, it's about room. They can't pull dogs from shelters if all the fosters are full.

I just added it to my prayers. Sometimes God says no, or not now.

I have this hanging above my desk:

I prayed for Ron to be healed. He is, he's in Heaven. It was technically a yes answer, just not exactly as I wanted.

For the dog --- can you visit her say like once a week and "sneakily" bring offerings of fresh eggs or bread or whatever? Don't ask, just bring?? Thinking outside the box.

and... (sorry but this is a soapbox)...

And many of the physicians are Muslims, dogs are unclean.
But this is AMERICA.
Yeah - I know you're stuck between a rock and a hard place on this.
And for what it's worth -- my dogs worked, yes, worked in hospitals here. Interactive therapy with therapists for PT and OT, pediatrics with kids, in PICU both on a regular at least weekly and also on requests. So many times they used the dog, ON THE BED next to the child while they had to hunt for veins to insert lines and give shots. Yup - they'd call us in for that often.

I appreciate it.

I recall when one of our non Muslim residents brought her elderly ailing pug with her to the office. He was quiet, stayed in his carrier, but her Muslim classmate (also physician) was furious. Dogs are unclean, he had to go through special rituals after having the dog in the room. He was from the UAE.
