Imo, they don't taste good. What do elderberries taste like?
I see where people make 'syrup' from it all the time - but to be used like a tincture in tea & such. Do they make good jam???
That's helpful, thanks! So, I remove the berries off the stems. They are not sweet. Sorta/kinda a blackberry ish tasteYou cook, then strain to remove most of the tiny seed centers. I've added the juice to some plums when making jam -- short on needed amount of plums -- & it's delish. They proven to reduce flu/cold symptoms & time because, they say, it stops the virus from replicating. I don't sweeten my juice to a syrup, just enough sugar to take the edge off. A little cinnamon added sometimes tastes ok. I can some whole berries +water for a supply of pure juice for backup when berries are few.
Oh, you get a section of small holes fence -- think rabbit cage -- and drag the pods of berries across it. It'll pull the berries off into the bowl below.pick out all green ones.
