Today is Carson’s birthday. He is 6 years old. I didn’t remember that today is his birthday, but for some reason, I opened this thread and read it. He is sleeping peacefully on his towel bed. What a 6 years it has been. Carson is a fountain of love and adoration, bubbling up and spilling over on those around him. He is my buddy, my companion and sidekick. When I’m out on the farm, he is either right with me or laying where he can watch me. Since it is July and hotter than blazes, he goes under the portable building where it is cool. If I go too far, he comes to check on me. When I go to the house, I call and he comes trotting to me, my own very large dirt bag that leaves piles of dirt on the floor for me to sweep up.
Carson and I have had a lot of history in the past 6 years. He’s been my buddy through some very tough times. His heart is bigger than he is-and that’s pretty big! I don’t know how he fits it all in his body, but he does and he gives so much love.
Carson is always glad to have the granddaughters come visit and patiently lets them do whatever they want with him. Even if he is not the direct object of attention, he’s in the background, photobombing. Carson is always there.
Carson makes a surrogate sheep mom for tiny bottle lambs, teaching them how to go up and down steps, sharing his home and giving a lonely baby lamb a reassuring cuddle.
He watches me doing chores, walks with me to see if the road is passable after flooding rains, takes his naps in the sunshine, plays with the girls.
Most of all, Carson loves me and I love him.
Happy birthday Carson. I will take you for a ride in the truck today.
