Saturday 4/29 hubby and his dad built my greenhouse! I was able to my my starts out, and got even more seeds started. I moved a bunch of plants off the front porch too.

Not sure about the rattlesnake less it's tail. Probably depends on the severity of the injury. :idunno
This year we're at 1 rattler (permanently relocated) a few weeks ago and a nice gopher snake this week.
Your greenhouse looks GREAT!! I just started planting in my garden boxes yesterday. Though a few volunteers are already going (does that count?).

Some 40 years ago i lived in a rent house with an electric hot water heater. By identifying the breaker that the heater was on, we cut it off at night after supper and baths. There was enough hot water for most of the next day and I flipped the breaker switch next afternoon so I could cook supper. It took $30 off the electric bill. That’s not much money now, but it was a big difference 40 years ago.

Yeah, this is what hubby needs to do. I think we are supposed to have an hour by hour power usage or something because we have a smart meter with pge? So we could turn it off and almost immediately see if it makes a difference.

We had our contractor friend come by and look at the water heater and write out the parts we'd need to swap it out for a gas one. So I might be able to get most of the parts this weekend and possibly have it swapped before hubby gets back.

Another big energy sink is the electric dryer. Now that we are out of the winter/rainy season I need to get back to using the drying rack in the yard. That will save a bunch of electricity. I'd like to have it a bit farther from the front door though, so it's not the first thing you see when you pull up to visit.. Maybe I can get a new laundry line run in the space between the greenhouse and the garden, that would still get sunshine but would be blocked from sight, plus mostly easy to access. Hmm, if I install it before hubby gets back he can't shoot down my idea..

My dryer broke last year. I have a covered front porch and ran wire across the front of it. That wasn’t enough so I ran another wire in the middle of the porch. I hung out clothes all summer and fall. My son works as a crane operator, pulling his RV from site to site. When he comes home I always tell him to bring his laundry and I wash it for him. He realized that I wasn’t hanging up laundry for the fun of it and went and bought me a dryer. LOL I still use my clothes line, but it sure is nice to have that dryer!

We never had a dryer when the kids were small. I hung clothes outside most of the year, but on a drying rack placed near the furnace during wet/cold weather. I still have the one I got with Green Stamps in 1981.
