OH man - all this talk of cornbread -- I see just plain ol' warm cornbread in the near future -- with butter and @drstratton 's honey.

I'm making it for one of my sisters. She's absolutely obsessed with Starry Night, for some reason. She bought 100 wooden spoons in bulk and starting painting it on each of them!Starry Night!
That sounds yummy! I've been planning to make a pot of beans and cornbread. Thank you for tomorrow's meal plan!OH man - all this talk of cornbread -- I see just plain ol' warm cornbread in the near future -- with butter and @drstratton 's honey.![]()
My parents used to eat it like that. My dad was born in Texas. I don't know if that's why they ate it that way or just thought it sounded good one day and tried it. I prefer it hot, loaded with butter and a little honey.I remember watching Old Yeller when I was a kid. There's a scene where Arliss eats cornbread with milk in it as a meal. I would have thought cornbread is a side... but is it common for it to be the main part of the meal down south?
It's something eaten as a meal during tough times, great depression, etc. Cornmeal was cheap, satisfying. Often fried vice baked, like a fritter. Yeah porridges, greens, foraged foods when things were tight. Potatoes a million ways....etc. old Yeller was in that time frame. Haven't seen it in a while.Arliss eats cornbread with milk in it as a meal
