We're having company over for supper today. Guess what DH is doing? Ripping apart the mudroom to assemble cubbies for the kids' coats. 😂 it's actually fine. Yes, he's making a big mess in there right before company but I've wanted cubbies for the kids forever. It will be nice to have a better set up for all their winter things! This house doesn't have any closets so storage has and is still an issue.
The person hasn't showed up for the ducks or gotten back in contact with me since. Can't say I'm surprised but it's disappointing those ducks are still contributing to the feed bill. I should probably post them on fb, too.

I've been talking with a few of my sisters the past few days about our loss of Nettie. They were all appalled when I told them only one person reached out with condolences. They got a lot of contact from people via Facebook and I kinda think that's making all the difference. I don't have my own account but we have one we mainly use for marketplace. Fb has made communication so easy that, if you're not really on there, you're forgotten about.
My older sister sent a picture of a card she received from a fellow choir member at her church. It's beautiful

I checked a fecal sample for one of my lambs yesterday. She's more susceptible to worms than the rest of our last batch. I dewormed before our trip so wanted to check yesterday to make sure her count was down. It was much better. She needs to settle in and start putting on weight. She's not a keeper, she's a freezer filler so I'm not worried about her lack of resistance long term.

That was a beautiful card! 💞
I'm glad she shared it with us. It echoed a lot of what we had talked about and felt.
Gotta get all those indoor projects done before it warms up. Mudroom cabinets will be so nice to have.
That's true. There's always so much to do. And he's talking about how he wants to do better with the veg garden this year. He always gets excited and plants things but then doesn't do anything else. 😂 Vegetable gardening isn't my thing though I do try. I much prefer flower gardening. I'm going to plant a butterfly/pollinator patch this year, as well as some milkweed in some raised beds.

Last night our company was 5 minutes late so I checked my phone. I saw a text from her that was sent a couple minutes previous that reads
"The address you gave us took us to an abandoned house. The day hasn’t been the greatest, sorry we can’t make it."

We have an old trailer near the sheep field that has its own mailbox. Apple maps takes people to that driveway instead of our house, even though the house numbers are different. I called to tell her they were literally within shouting distance of our house. She answered the and said she had a headache and her husband had a bad day at work so they were going home.
The kicker is they had lived a couple houses down from us a few years ago after they had a house fire. We had discussed how close we lived to each other at church so they knew they were close, but she just gave up. It was super strange. After I hung up, feeling confused, DH said, "you did all this work and she wasn't even apologetic".
I hadn't even thought of that yet, but it was true.
It was a bummer to have spent so much effort getting ready for company and cooking a large meal just to have that happen. Couldn't let it go to waste!
I called a couple of neighbors to see if anyone was free but people either had plans or ate already. DH called the man we buy wood from and used to go to church with and he wanted to come over. So we still had company last night. 😅

How - strange and weird. LOL -- GPS will sometimes take people to a locked grove access "road". Even if we tell them ahead of time there are still those who blindly trust their GPS (I'm thinking perhaps there's a lemming gene involved ;) ). Glad it worked out though someone who appreciated it more perhaps and building of a new friendship perhaps.

Try not to feel too bad. Your friend probably really did have a bad day and then stressed over going out for the evening on top of it, so the abandoned house was probably just the last straw. And, maybe they had an argument in the car (happens when we’re stressed out and we get lost) so then they didn’t feel up to facing people.

It was nice that there was someone else who was able to come over on a moment’s notice. Good save!

My physical address is literally a private road that no longer exists. GPS will take you through a locked gate, across a cattle guard to an empty field. I put up a sign, a 1x12 that is 3 feet long at the end of my driveway but people still cant find me.
Might be a good thing...

Ha - I have those people trying to cut through our property because GPS says they can. We even have several signs we put up -- no thru traffic, private property, YOUR GPS IS WRONG no access to _________.
I was so fed up one time - a guy opened our gate (not the first time) and made him get out of the car, took him to a sign and told him to read it out loud. He DID NOT. I pushed it, and pushed it hard going to the point of teaching a 5 year old how to read. Asked if he could read - crickets. Then DH came up and rescued him. 😠 Now after all the CDL truckers who can not read - I'm guessing this guy - who insisted he had the right to drive through - could not read.
Signs on gate he opened --- NO TRESSPASSING and PRIVATE PROPERTY (kick that soapbox away, it's barely light out here 😁

He may not have spoken English, either. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But you would think the CDL license would have at least some minimum reading and English requirements.
No on the CDL. It's a huge thing around here now. They can't speak English or read it - even simple signs. A lot of CDLs being pulled.
