Baymule
Herd Master
Your poor ducks felt safe with the geese. The geese DO add value, they provide meat and eggs. They guard the ducks. Most of all, they make you smile.
Me too! It was worth the embarrassment. So glad this work out so well!![]()
I needed time to think and let my thoughts marinate for a couple weeks, but I finally typed up a "memory" to post on my sister's obituary.
This past spring, we had a persistent male cardinal attacking his reflection on several different windows on our house. Our oldest affectionately started referring to him as "Tapper", so regular were his visits. He disappeared over the summer. I was glad that he wasn't wasting his energy fighting his reflection when he could be off wooing a mate or finding food. Dad phoned me to tell me the sad news that Nettie had passed on Dec. 12th. Tapper was back at my bedroom window within the hour, bright red wings fluttering against the glass. He has been back every day since.
A cardinal has long been regarded as a heavenly messenger, a reminder that our loved ones who have passed are still near by and/or watching over us.As a Christian, I don't believe the dead have a way to communicate once they're gone. But I do think God found it fitting Tapper should come back that day.
I don't feel I can adequately use words to convey how grateful I am for her life and the blessing she was. I can only imagine what kind of reunion we will have in heaven one day.
The Broken Chain
(Author Unknown)
We knew little that morning that
God was going to call your name,
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories,
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems to be the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.

That is so beautiful! I fully believe God gives us things to bring us comfort. I was my fathers caregiver when he was dying from cancer. One day a pigeon showed up on our deck. It had a band on its leg. My father would look for it and watch it every day. He would speculate that maybe it was a messenger pigeon and had scenarios about where it came from and where it was going. It brought him great joy. When my father died, the pigeon left and it never came back. That was God's gift to him. One day our chain will link again! That's God's gift to all who believe!I needed time to think and let my thoughts marinate for a couple weeks, but I finally typed up a "memory" to post on my sister's obituary.

Thank you, that's lovely. This Sunday it will be one year since I lost Ron. He's with Jesus, as is my dad, but I still miss him, them.
