I gave her a good drench of molasses+salt+water. The little goober wouldn't drink it from the dish but liked the taste once I drenched her.
Put her lambs outside and she followed them out. She started grazing immediately. Weird that she stayed in the house all morning. I'm not sure if she feels bad or if she's stupid.

With sheep, stupid is always a possibility. 😀
 
BB's sister lambed yesterday. She really seemed to struggle. For several pushes, hooves were visible and got sucked back in. The poor thing was flat on her side, straining so hard. She would get up and walk around in between contractions. I finally grabbed her and tried to get her down so I could assist but she was incredible strong. I called my husband to come over to the field and he was on his way when she finally started making good progress.
She finally pushed the lamb out and walked away. I got the lamb's nose wiped and clear and brought her to mama. Mama completely ignored her, and any subsequent attempts to give her the lamb were ignored.
I locked them both in a shed and tried to hold her to allow the lamb to nurse. Mom was very upset. She wouldn't stand and started trying to butt the baby. More than nudging, full out "get away from me!"
Very disappointed.
I brought the lamb to the house and gave her colostrum.
This morning I went out to check the flock. Grumpy Mama Mama from yesterday looked suspiciously thin so I checked around for another lamb.
I found a dead half baked one in the run in. You can see how large the eye socket is.

She was a ewe. I sold her to an Egyptian man last night! He wants to start his own flock. He sent me this picture after he left 😂 adorable

The cost to feed isn't too bad when we have a milk cow but we're not milking yet. It's also time and effort. I was tempted to keep this one because she was extremely good natured and took to the bottle immediately. Of course my kids really enjoyed her for the 24 hrs we had her. No way around it though. I'm going on a trip next month, and dh will be working too much to bottle feed during the day.
 
I had a lamb born with bent front legs, couldn't nurse, bottle baby. Was going to Disney World with DD and family in a week. Asked neighbor if he would keep her, he said yes, I gave her to him. Told him how to do the therapy with therapy, she was the start of his flock. :love Her legs straightened out and she is living the good life.
