Possible Theft Attempt?

@Baymule - so what will your first livestock be?

If I may, I would like to recommend goats.

There are big goats, little goats, mini goats, mid size goats.
There are dairy goats, meat goats, fiber goats, brush goats, pet goats.
There are white goats, black goats, red goats, painted goats, all variety of colors in goats.
There are goats with ears that hang down long and low.
There are goats that have NO ears! (My favorite)
There are goats that have erect ears.
Even elf ears!

Goats also go perfectly well with chickens and even better with Livestock Guardian Dogs, ESPECIALLY Great Pyrenees named Paris!

Anyway... just thought I'd let ya know you really can't go wrong with goats.

:D :D :D :D Think Goats! :D :D :D :D

I would go with the Dorper sheep. They are docile, graze and browze like goats but produce more meat in less time. Also, one can get 3 lamb crops in 2 years, as well as shed their wool , so no sheering expenses. They are not escape artists like goats are. Oh, and the rams do not stink like the bucks during breeding season.

:plbb
My goats don't escape and give me LOTS of milk and I can get meat too!
They also give kisses, and hugs, and are like dogs...and we all know there ain't nothing better than a dog!

Now, if you don't like animals that want to be with you and love on you and sometimes pull your pants down... then get sheep. :gig

Since the property is covered with an abundance of poison oak and I break out badly when exposed, it looks like goats are in my near future. I am also very interested in sheep as lamb could get to be a favorite on the plate real fast.

@Southern by choice I am absolutely thinking about a movable pen of stock panels for the goats to mow down the offending vines.

@Bossroo I am very interested in hair sheep, know any breeders in northeast Texas?

We have tons of work ahead, it will be awhile before adding more animals to the mix, but I sure believe in doing my homework. I will try to learn all I can before I get either one.
