First lambs have arrived. 3038 had split twins this afternoon and they were WHITE! LOL The last day for Rommel lambs was last week. Apparently he bred no one. Luckily Junior was on top of things - literally LOL. We have a number of XLG ewes out there waiting to lamb. These new twins are small but lively. Got them in the jug and fed them some funny looking alfalfa. DS1 and I puzzled over it then he remembered that when the sheep were shipped out the transprter had several bales of hay/straw in the trailer when he arrived. After loading everyone those bales were left at our Maude place because he had no room for them. DS1 remembered that he put them in with the alfalfa in the Connex. We pulled the straw out of the feeder and tossed it on the floor of the jug for bedding then got her some real alfalfa.

There's always 2026!!
Assuming Bay and I could survive it. I might have to buy 2 cases of wine to get us thrugh!

BTW, Hazine was out in the pasture with the ewe who lambed. She just laid calmly while the ewe finished. Not sure how she got in the pasture, but no matter. Knowing she can get in with the lambing ewes is comforting since we don't lock them up in the barn at night anymore. They can come into the barn, but can lamb on pasture. I think lambing on the clean pasture is healthier. So glad that she is not another "Bubba The Baby Stealer".

Will she send a postcard? LOL

I am going to be working in the barn today getting the jugs ready for any new lambs. I dont know how they get dirty when no sheep have been in them! I will put bedding on the ground and set up another row of jugs. There are 17 ewes pregnant but some of them don't look too big yet. Those are the younger ones and can fool you. We have to do early morning checks from now on for lambs.

Talked to DS2 yesterday. The inspection is on Monday. He said they are excited but he is feeling the pinch already of paying a huge mortgage, taxes, insurance, and monthly utilities. Dh started feeling sorry for him but I nipped that in the bud pretty quickly. I pointed out that in a couple years DDIL2 can go back to work. She has her degree and worked as a preschool teacher. That type of job would be ok for her since the hours would be good for the kid's school. After all, we all feel the pinch when starting out and if usually never stops pinching. LOL

I told DS2 that we would be bringing packing boxs and materials back with us and I would help DDIL2 pack while I was sorting and packing the rest of our stuff. Once they are moved to the new house, I have some work to do on the Maude house to avoid it looking like a tear down. Selling "As Is" is one thing, but not cleaning up, patching walls, and painting where necessary, is leaving money on the table which I don't do. We will have to make at least one more trip after this to CA to finish the clear out. I told DH and DS1 we will rent a dumpster instead of taking loads to the dump. Easier on us and cheaper in the long run.

If we get an offer on the 5 acre field before one on the house, I plan to sell it before the house. The house will sell just fine on its own once the lot is sold since animal keeping in Shadow Hills is phasing out. :( Only thing I won't do is sell the house before the acreage since that would be a disadvantage.
We will 1031 the vacant land over into something(s) in Texas to avoid paying capital gains. Either more land or a rental house or both. We will have to see what happens. Interest rates are going down so I am hopeful that the property will sell fast.

I'm making lists of what can go to DS2's house for them to use. They can also have a big garage sale once they get there and decide what they want and don;t have space for. All the baby gear that is in the tool shed loft will go with them for the garage sale. That will sell well and after Covid the thrift stores won't take it. At least while we are getting the CA property ready for sale there won't be a mad rush to move everything over NOW and dump it at their new place. We can move it as we sort it out.

We have 4 different people wanting to buy the connexes we have in CA. We bought them new and they are in better condition than the good ones we bought here. 20' with doors on each end, DH hopes he can get almost what he paid for the Texas ones. He paid extra for delivery here. In CA the buyer will be responsible for moving them. I told DS2 that until the house sells, he can store some of his stuff in either the milk shed or the tool shed as he is moving it. Since he works 6 days a week long hours, that will help him.

DDIL2's sisters will stay in our house once DS2 has moved. Minimal furniture with the laundry room fridge. Once the house sells and closes that fridge will go to DS2's new garage. Happy for them and even happier at seeing the last of our "moves" coming to an end!

I bet you'll be happy to get it all finished. Glad the end is near for you.
