Do your sheep have to be registered to do shows? Im just looking for something small that my kids could do for practice, a fall fair or something?

Depends on where your located. As far as 4h though, you can show just about whatever. In Texas there's lots of small "practice" shows and its really about the kids. Even though the "big dogs" are there, everyone is happy to have the kid with the pasture lamb out there doing it all for the right reasons. Side Box Warning: Showing and competitiveness can become addicting! LOL!

ok, Ill have to inquire around. I have really struggled with 4h around here. I don't know anyone involved in it. And when I do email people and call. I either get no call backs or no emails, no facebook replies ect. It really doesn't look good on them when I can't even get ahold of anyone so i can get my children enrolled :(

I have to ask as there are so many references to it on this site. What is 4H please? (I'm from the UK)

I believe it comes from their pledge when joining: 4-H pledge: "I pledge my head to clearer thinking, my heart to greater loyalty, my hands to larger service, and my health to better living, for my club, my community, my country, and my world."

If you want to show wether, castrated males, they a won't be registered, if you want to show for breeding, they have to be registered.

No. A breed registration is not for needed most shows. Breed specific shows many times require breed registration.
A good place for more information is your local Extension office. Or a local Grange. If you can not find a local Grange contact The National Grange www.nationalgrange.org Their phone number is 202-628-3507. They can help you get in touch with a local Grange.
