Why did they calm down?
One of the ram lambs was scared, running, bouncing off the cow panel pen. He did not inspire calmness in the other two. So I got Spot and put him in there. I sat on the ground, talking to the lambs. Spot loves attention and I lavished scratches and rubs on him. The lambs could see that Spot wasn’t scared, he was calm and obviously enjoying the attention. His friendliness to me said that I’m not a big monster.

This is about my favorite time of the year. You try to predict what kind of weather you are going to have because of lambs being born and then when it all comes to an end, you had a good one or not. Hopefully it was a good one. We are Thankful that we had one of those Good Ones and now play the game of me convincing Teresa that our ewe numbers need to go way up. :)

We brought all of the sheep in today to get caught up on everything. It turned out to be an all day event but we got caught up. Everything went as it should but we now have one yearling ewe that has acted out enough that she will be going to the market when we take a load of lambs in. I only keep sheep that tolerate being handled but if I have to fight with one, it doesn't stay around very long.
