It CAN spin out, so loose belt? Maybe a screw gone that holds spindle things tight?
Personally -- I'd pull the panels and check those things before spending on a new one

You gotta take the whole darn thing apart. No taking the back off for easy access. I needed a belt for the dryer, had to buy a kit, belt and new wheels for the tub to tumble on. Had to take off everything BUT the back. “Friend” repair deal, $180. It lasted a few more months before it quit all together. So I’m of the mind to take the repair bill money, skip the repair and put it towards a new one.

Our Kenmore front loader that we bought from the sellers of this house, went on a noisy spree. Called the appliance repair. He said that we needed new struts, and that it'd be about $500+. A new washer exactly like what we have, runs about $800+.
After him telling us that and charging us $159, I ordered the struts and hubs and son put them on. $225 for the materials and Free for the labor. Mom does the laundry, so they made sure to get it done properly!!

My thoughts, too. I disassembled my dryer, twice, to try to fix. The ten minute simple job takes me a couple hours. I'm not experienced, no longer flexible, and both washer and dryer are in the hallway to the "back" door. There is no room to manoeuver.
There's a wall behind me.
The hallway is so narrow all appliances must go through the front door!
