Managed this 2500 square ft building pad in 6 hours yesterday. Part of the oh you can do this, wow now I see that, can you do this, oh how about this. Haven't had a day off since June 11th and it's only going to get worse. Time to pack the tool box up and go home from wrenching. Did the driveway in the background too.
This pad is what called a cut and fill, cut one half and fill in the lower half with what you cut from the top half with a 4% grade for drainage.

Cut and fill --- know it well. The house and barn are both cut and fill, and come to think of it so is the large arena. Both house and barn are huge cut and fill. I'll snap a pic today if I remember.
Nice work!

Some just cut until they get a level surface or just fill till they get one, excessive work. This is better. She couldn't wrap her head around what I was going to do till she seen it, odd since she said she grew around family who were all contractors.

Well "contractors" is a broad term. Some do only a specific thing, frame, roof, foundations, brick. I understand that.
True which is why I got away from "contracting" for my business name. With my broad spectrum of knowledge/experience I can see more than one way of doing things by combining other specific things to another specific thing.

Actually this for a customer and they are putting a house there and today I ended up cutting out where their wood storage shed will go. Was cut and fill the house pad, she seen it and said oh by the way… Wish they would have said something sooner as it made it more complicated than the house pad. Oh well they are paying…
Where the excavator is they decided they want a outdoor kitchen there and build up the mound behind it.Though blew a hydraulic line, will get a new one in town tomorrow, early day off for me today.
