I was wondering if you had a way to collect clean rainwater for your cistern there at/in the house for you guys, also???? Save you from hauling so much from your well.... I bet this really will help the ground water seeping into your well also...
Not yet, have plans for one, now about that thing of having time...

Starting to show progress on the house I'm building for the person who keeps changing house plans "daily" or trying to some days.

How deep are the piers? What's planned for perimeter closure? How's the plumbing working -- is it in under there or? Thinking about the base of rock/soil you have there, plus wild weather.

Nothing like my VA warm dirt 😋 Yep, when I built this one the backhoe dug right in. But I put wider & deeper footing & piers. Then higher block so I could sit up in crawl space. It's proven to be a good decision over the years. Foundations are important.

Now that you have that portion in, wonder how and when he will change it again! :he:barnie
He tried extending the loft over the cathedral ceiling portion over the living room/kitchen area yesterday with railing for sides. Feasible yes, aesthetically appeasing no.

Piers are 4 ft down at 12" diameter piers with 24" pads that had rebar sticking up so when I poured the piers they tied in to not slip off. Plumbing will go in later, bathroom will be on the side closes to the septic field so we aren't running 3 inch PVC through the joists so much. As for perimeter enclosure, I could say one thing and it change before I get done typing and I don't even know it.
Technically I wanted a stem wall, not this piers BS, I wanted to use a concrete truck, not this 100 plus concrete bag pour. Though he is footing the bill for stupidity, so I will play nice. Making a nice cushion for my winter months to be home and not fighting sub zero temperatures trying to earn a dollar.

Notice the red chairs in the first picture, that is where him and his wife sit as I am building. Notice the one chair in the second picture, that is where he is sitting while building the walls. Thankfully he has the attention span of a cat and FB marketplace is on his cell phone, though the 1/16” to 1/8” gaps he kept pointing out in the framing nearly drove me over the edge.

As if life isn't fun enough, the owner who is in debt more than I want to explain on here that I am building the house for heard about the auction in town. Welp he won a backhoe that will rival my excavator in size and capabilities. Lost couple thousand cause he will do his septic himself, lost another thousand to his driveway and now he is going to try and take my clients for cheaper than what I charge. Tempted to not finish the house...

I think I would do as you said you are tempted... BUT... get paid to date... and then tell him that since he is set up to do all this himself, you "repectfully" resign and will work on your own projects...
Does he have any experience in doing all these things????

I don't have the answers for you possibly losing clients... BUT.... if he cannot build his own house, and hired you instead... BUT then he is going to go into the excavation business.. with no actual PROOF he is capable... then let him and see what happens... Thing is, can you financially manage for awhile if he does this crap????

I am tired of dealing with STUPID.... KNOW IT ALL ......IDIOTS.... God Bless you for even trying....
