We hava Racka

When is the Huntsville sale, and are you going?
I could meet you there.
I don’t think we can make the next one ? first week of April? I think they have them quarterly. Our trailer needs its lighting required so depending on that.
I've watched her too!! Say hi to her, from all of us!
Thanks.

I wish I could take my PDS to Huntsville but their horns have to be a certain size. They may go to the local sale barn after the grass kicks in. We are supposed to get rain in the next couple of days. Not drought busting but enough to start grass. I had hoped to get a little further with my Racka plans but I will hang on to a couple of ewes and see what they produce. If I were a few years younger I’d be game to try for a hair Racka. Twister has many good years left as a flock sire I hope someone will appreciate him as such.

So... I missed why you want to sell him.... just too much mess to have a flock of sheep with wool?

That’s part of it. And aging. I am a lot more cautious working with the sheep these days, which is why I appreciate Twister’s tolerant attitude. We lost our steady ethnic markets for lambs when we moved. Few sales, rising input costs and economic uncertainties are causing me to reconsider what breed (s) I raise or if I stay in sheep.

I think several of us are thinking along those lines. Feed costs are huge AND buyer $$ is tight. Mine are goats, same problems. My dairy ones at least provide for my milk, cheese, etc. I have cut back numbers & the breeding some, too. Not seeing a total stop but, lessen the numbers.

Next sale is April 10. Then May 8. I've never been to the exotic sale, always wanted to go. It's only an hour away, let me know when you go and I'll meet you there!

If you decide to stay in sheep, but not the Painted Desert, try black head Dorpers. They bring the highest prices at auction. How far are you from Hamilton?

Trailer is going to be at the mechanic today but a lot of iffies. If the rewire isn’t too extensive, if the guy has time, if something else doesn’t happen. I don’t know about my sheep plans yet. There are lots of things to consider. I think Hamilton is about 4 hours away. Thank you for the invite to meet up. I’m sorry I can’t give you a more definite answer.

I totally get it. Life on the farm!
