Lambs are real nice, like the full painted desert ones better than the cross..
I am going to be a "downer"... why do you not take the net wrap off the hay???? They can get hung in it and a lamb could get it twisted around it's throat, hung up in it, something???? Sorry, but I cringed when I saw that... we NEVER EVER put out hay with net wrap on it... we even cut the normal sisal (stings) on the other rolls we make so someone does not get it tangled around something... Have had a couple cows tear out ear tags on just the strings around the bales... and DS had a lamb get some net wrap around a leg and hung halfway up side down... almost lost it... but he found it in time.. It wasn't even a full piece, it was actually wrapped in the hay roll...

Even with a roll that might be falling apart, we take the net wrap off out in the place we are going to put it... sheep probably don't but calves will also eat it... yeah, dumb, but then calves can be really dumb... and it can mess up their insides and they can die from it...

I usually have it off by now. I have never had anyone get caught in it but there’s always a first time. That wrap is quite flimsy as well. It poses a trip hazard if it joins forces with the Bermuda empire. On this afternoon’s list. Thanks.
Edit. Ironically I’ve lost animals to cattle panels.

Yep, had a sheep get it's head stuck in a cattle panel and somehow back around through another "square"... and couldn't get out... as in dead....
Tripped/caught my boot, on some sisal (regular) baling strings on a big bale and planted myself flat on some frozen ground one time a few years back... that HURT.... for a long time....
How can animals be SOOOOO DUMB sometimes????

Then I watch my longhorn Jess, twist her head and horns and get into the silage wagon and eat away, then slowly turn her head/horns, and get it right back out... AMAZING.....

Lambs at the “popcorn “ stage have jumped and gotten their rear legs hung by the knee in cattle panels. Zoie and Crockett were experts at alerting me. About a year ago a ewe got her head slightly stuck in a panel square, panicked and died. All she had to do was back out. Step back. Throw ‘er in reverse. Pull a Ralph. But nooooo. I’m going to have to drag your heavy axx to the disposal area. I coulda been at a barbecue. ( obscure sci fi movie reference).Independence Day.

As this winter plays out I’ve begun to wonder about a Big Sale in May or June. Painted Desert sheep are pretty but I’m starting to look at meat yields. The ethnic market we had when we lived closer to the city vanished when we moved. It may be a better plan to raise a different breed. Just thoughts.

Katahdins and Dorpers are the premiere meat breeds. Black head Dorper rams are pyscho just in case you want to know.
 too funny - I've read that about any of the black head Dorpers, but around here the black head Dorpers are used a lot for herding trials and are sane, they those putting on trials claim the white Dorpers to be psycho - and I haven't seen that with mine.
