We hava Racka

We have a possible buyer for several sheep including Twister and number one and two sons. I spent this morning trying to snap pics of lambs and ewes together. Not as easy as it might seem. I reviewed the birth pictures I took and discovered Racka lamb markings tend to disappear as they grow older. Oops. Even some of the PDS lambs had me doing double takes. I think I’ve got them straight.

The ewes look tired at weaning time. I let everyone self wean unless there is a problem. We got one and a quarter inches of rain. It won’t break the drought and I may have to sacrifice part of my hay pasture for grazing. I will put up a temporary hot wire and shepherd with Leo (who would love it). Probably have to take a bath in pyrethrum

Yeah - a lot of my colored lambs lose all the color or it gets washed out as they get older. It'll be interesting to see what the black and white triplet ewes end up.

Teeerrrific news. My Racka crosses are shedding fleece. They probably won’t shed all but they are shedding. The experiment will continue. Breed the Racka ewes back to hair rams.
