Coffee anyone ?

Good afternoon all :frow
We've been having some crazy wild weather. It's more like the midwest right now than the west. Got some crazy lightening last night and some lightening today. The thunder kept waking me up today. This kind of weather is not normal here. Grass is pretty much dead already so we're preparing for fires with all the lightening. Last time we had lightening this close we had 3 fires start right around us that we had to put out and it was in "green" grass.
Last jersey to calve is still fighting me at every turn trying to clear up her udder rot. I'm frustrated with her. It's not her fault but she'd heal if she just left it alone and left the treatments on. Her calf got injures somehow and got a bacterial infection we are treating. He seems to be healing but now the other two grafts are showing signs of it as well. So frustrated right now with them all.
It's our weekend. I'm hoping spending some time with DH will make me feel a bit better. Until he's up I'm working on cleaning up some packing piles and watching/listening to the weather live stream.

What about just tossing dirt on them and leaving it to compost? :lol:
 
I'm enjoying the beautiful aroma of fresh brewed coffee. Just poured a cup. My day begins! 😁

Need to cut the grass in the front yard. I've let two does work on the back yard, until I can get to it. Past week has been brutal job work ... 18 hr OT. Next week I'm kinder to myself. Need a day or two at home. Better get mower gas today. $4/gal 😩
 
I slept in today, I needed that. Worked 29 hours the last two days.
Odds and ends to get done today, supposed to rain, hoping to still get outside a bit.
Gas prices are high enough, and the weather is so nice, I can't justify driving anywhere. I suspect this biking thing may stick around for the summer.

Didn't get much sleep. Lots of tossing and turning. Gave up just in time for a whopper thunderstorm to hit. Opened up the windows in the kitchen while it stormed and got to work. Got curds for cottage cheese draining. Carrots and beets cleaned and on the stove steaming. Prepped and added more vanilla beans to our mother jars and topped them off. Just sitting down for the first time so far today. New book came I'm excited to look through. Technically one came yesterday but due to scamazon's wonderful packaging it was covered in almond flour inside and out. Requested a new one. Haven't been anywhere to return the flour coated one yet but the new one already arrived this afternoon. I'm excited to look through it. Been wanting it for a while but have been putting it off. I'm sick of spending money. I think I finally ordered it as therapeutic shopping. 😂 As if I need something else to pack and move but I'm looking forward to making a few things out of it while we're stuck here.
After some harassing my uncle finally signed my personal trust taxes. I am officially done with him.:celebrate 🥳 :weeeGot our personal and business taxes paid. Ouch. Another thing done and off the list. Made another mortgage payment too. Never expected to be making so many mortgage payments before our property is even listed. Feeling a bit better about it all today though. Have replacement cameras in our cart as well as new locks for our new home. All keyed alike. Also got a couple of the key pad dead bolt locks so that the realtor can still get in if needed while we are still going back and forth. He's become a good friend. God sure has blessed us with such great folks for our home purchase/move. Previous owners seem to be moving on now. Not contacting anymore. Texted them for Easter and they didn't know who we were. So we must no longer be in their phone. Figure it's time to change the locks now if they aren't possibly needed a place to stay. We wish them well in finding their new home and are glad they are finally able to travel and see all their family. While we had no problem with them having a place to stay at our home while they transitioned it will feel good to know we are the only one with keys. We have no idea who all has current keys to our home. I also like having every door keyed the same. So I'll get the replacement cameras and locks ordered as soon as I know when I'm getting on the road. Waiting as close as I can so I have time for returns if needed. Our hope is by having replacement camera's with me I can get to the bottom of the downed cameras at home. If they need replacing I won't have time to wait for replacements there plus they'd be sent to CA which wouldn't work. I'm hoping I can put the ordered replacements up while I'm there and return the replacements they send (they send from scamazon anyways) when they arrive.
Feral kitty has come a very long way recently. She's out most afternoons/evening/night now. Gets locked back in her pen when it's bedtime. There's still one of our cats that is extremely upset with her presence in the house but she's coming along too. She's still testing what she can get up on so we're still monitoring so we can establish rules before she's loose full time. She's as tame as can be and loves petting and scratches in her pen but is still skittish when out in the house. It's almost funny. We'll catch her asleep on a scratcher and give her attention. She's loves it and doesn't run away. Come back a minute later and she's outta there. She's starting to come into rooms we are in however and watches what we are doing and what the other cats are doing. She's far more brave when our eldest cat is around.
Time to go check the curds and the carrots/beets. Will check back in later.
