It could be a defect and without it, he will probably suffer before passing. I agree with SBC. :(

Thanks for your care. When we discovered that, we knew there was no hope. Thanks for your support. Would this be caused by a lack of something or just a birth defect that showed up?

he basically has no tail at all. It is only about 1/4 inch or so. I was going to take his temp but it would appear that he may not have an annus. Is that possible? I am going to hold off on giving him anything because if this is the case, nothing is going to help the little fellow. :(
I don't know if there is a correlation, but I have heard of that happening in triplets/quads before. I assume this was the runt?

Maybe their development can be stifled easier with more developing fetuses. If the doe has kidded before with no problems, and assuming the other kids developed properly this time, this event is probably just "one of those things".

My niece said he was actually the largest of the three. The other two are doelings. She just bought this doe in April or May. They were moving that day so we were waiting for this doe to arrive and then we loaded my nieces goat and that was our load on moving. My niece was didn't know that she was buying a bred doe because she had kidded just a few months prior to her buying her. She has several other does that kidded for her but this is her largest doe.
