I found, years ago, that you need to have some basic knowledge of medical care, if you own livestock. Sorry to say but, some animals are not monetarily valuable....cull vice spend. Now, I don't mean if "something" contagious, etc. BUT. A few yrs back when a fav goat doe though she could fly over a fence -- resulting in a broken leg at ankle -- I had to choose costs of vet and no guarantees or cull. Sadly, I knew the answer! Me, the person who paid $2k for dog op...who sadly dies a wk later. I've nursed many!!! Some good results, some bad. I understand the connection we have with them....
If I had not had an AWESOME teaching vet, I would not be so able. We cannot save them all.

But with some basic knowledge, good observation and some meds on hand, we can often save an animal. I've tried to assemble some products, equipment, meds and knowledge that has saved an animal and a bill. I've also tried to develop a decision making concept. My vet helped with that.
so, read and connect all you can! Be prepared and accept that some won't make it, so save your $. Your buck doesn't seem to have a genetic problem. Breed and find his injury point. Next time, look harder and analyze the problem before vet trip. I so admire you wanting the best but, looking at what you found, I would have not gone vet so soon. I saw skin damage from photo. So, why? Then look,.,...it's a learning curve.
