Herd Master
My girls are starting to kick off the bucklings already at 3 weeks. They are MASSIVE boys, just huge. I started separating them off half way through the second week and have been more consistent these past few days. Henry was keeping my Ober so dry she wasn't stretching her udder. I was so concerned about it I talked to a well known Canadian Ober breeder and asked if her milking lines must have been just awful (auction goat) or if something was wrong. Since breaking him away from her, she's started to fill and stretch and is giving me more and more every day. 3 days ago I couldn't even milk her when I left him off she was so tight and hard by the morning, but 2 days ago I got 1/4 cup, yesterday 1/3 cup. today close to 3/4 cup, and I'm not trying very hard with her either, could probably get twice as much if not for her small teats.
ANYWAY. They are both active boys who love eachother to bits and their mothers are tired of getting the start of horns in the belly. When do I actually stop the boys from milking. Last year I only had one baby, so I just left him in with her as she was the herd queen. But, I want to pull the boys out from being with their moms so their milk doesnt get funky and there's no oops breedings.
