Yearling growth

Take a measuring tape and place the end at the center of the growth line on the knee and measure to teh coronet of the hoof. It'll give you the height your yearling will grow up to be in inches, one inch = one hand. You seem to have a big boy on your hands! He looks good! Not a yackling!

Thank you! He is a cutie, personality wise, and I know he will be the ugly duckling for a while then be the beautiful swan.
Right now he is only two inches smaller than his mom. But his father is 17H so there is size in his pedigree.

My 3 yr old 16"3hh gelding was advertised by the breeder (when he was 2 yrs old) to top off at 15'1hh. Nobody expected him to be so tall. Fortunately, I've noticed that since we've owned him (early June) his barrel has begun to fill out, and I'm not expected him to get very much taller. Don't know if I could mount a 17hh or + horse anymore from the ground!
