How cool is it that two members from Wales meet here on BYH? And not only that but both of you have Beulah Speckled Face Sheep!

The Rams that live locally are Welsh Mountain no others around

Looking at the lamb (is that Seren?)....she probably does have a Welsh Mountain father...and Welsh Mountain are great jumpers.

I have a Seren, too. She's a lovely ewe....little blob in the front of her forehead, answers to her name, great mum.

Beulahs (full name Beulah and Epynt Speckled Face) are a medium -sized wool sheep developed in the 19th century near to a small town called Beulah in mid Wales. They are quite hardy hill sheep.

I live just over from the Epynt (large area commandeered by the government in 1940 as an army training ground, which it still is today). Where are you from Zena?

My avatar pic. is LLeila who was the runt of a pair of hugely mis-matched twins. Her brother weighed a whopping 14 lbs, whilst LLeila was less than a pound. She was too weak to stand and get to mum's teats, but was able to suck from a bottle. She is wearing a dog coat designed fro a chihuahua. She grew like a weed on a compost heap on the bottle and is now 130lbs or more and has had lambs herself this year.

That's sweet! I always thought it was such a cute avatar but now it's even cuter!

Hi, yes we have alot of Welsh mountain sheep around me, my neighbour has them but know its one of hers!! I have a ewe and lamb of hers grazing with my horses at the moment.... Obviously thinks the grass is greener..
I live up in the mountains in a village called Ysbyty Ystwyth which is about 17 miles from Aberystwyth, I have nine acres.
Seren I found in a puddle up to her neck freezing cold and her sibling had been taken over night. I tried to keep Seren and her mum together but she would not follow no matter how much we tried and if we had left her she would of died. So it's now a very big learning curve for me now as I have never raised a lamb before. . I hope I get it right.
We get the jets, hurcules and chinocks flying over us.

Lots of bottles and lots of cuddles and you'll have a friend for life.
Being just the other side of a hill from the military range we get helicopters of various types, but very little bother from the military range. The Epynt Way is a long walk across the military range and I've never known anybody to have come to any harm to date! The remains of the old farms and a pub are still on the range which has a public road straight through it.The whole place just seems to be eerily silent for the majority of the time.
LLeila is now a really big ewe who has a huge lamb with her. She still comes over for cuddles whenever I go into the field......her lamb wanders over and looks a bit confused by his mum's enthusiasm. Some other ewes bring their lambs over with them and the lambs are happy to be stroked (this is particularly common with the Blue Faced Leicesters).

The only question I have at the moment is she seems to have very runny poo is that normal apart from that she is up the mischief and is adorable. Loves being loved and I love it to.
What about ear tags for her and is there any vaccinations I have to give her?? Sorry for all the questions

She won't need ear tags until she's 6 months old. We give ours Heptavac P Plus at 4-6 weeks and a second jab at 4-6 weeks later ( into loose skin, pulled up, at the side of the neck). There are other vaccines, such as Ovivac which does much the same thing. As the smallest number of doses available is (I think) 25 and is costs a £1 or more per shot, I'd suggest you ask your neighbours to sell/give you a few doses when they are vaccinating theirs or get single shots from the vets.

Loose bowels are pretty normal whilst on milk replacers, but it shouldn't get really watery.

My two little bottle lambs from this year (I had 12 last year!) are still loving their cuddles even though they have been weaned for several weeks now.
