Yesterday was a bit traumatic. My husband was cutting some metal (for our resource beehive lid) which of course throws out sparks. Our son does muzzle loading. It hit some black powder that we didn't know was in the garage. Threw my husband backwards and destroyed the garage doors. Shook the whole house. I'm so thankful that God protected him. Our son will be paying for the doors and all black powder will be removed from our home.

This is the worst door, the other doesn't look as bad, but it also buckled and will need replaced. You can still see the smoke in the air.

Holy smokes!! I am so glad that God wrapped him in protection! Probably saving him injury not knowing it was coming too. Praise God! Hope he's not sore later.

Good evening all!
DH said to thank you all for the water heater advice. He had looked into the on demand water heaters before but they got such bad reviews he stopped looking at them. He said he will look more into them again. Also the recirculating system. Today was the water tank. He went to town and got supplies and got started on that. Went well until it didn't. Thankfully he went down to check on everything and noticed one piece that looked to have moved. Yep. Touched it and it blew flooding part of the basement with water. He ran to the breaker which of course is all the way in the house and got it flipped off. Had to change the plan a bit then clean up all the water with limited supplies still. Then went out and noticed the day/night light he put up last night on the outside of the barn was still on during the day. Got back up on the ladder and sure enough. Cheap amazon junk. The sensor was inside the unit not where it was supposed to be. He was able to take it apart hopefully repair it. We'll know soon. He can't bring it home. Would be a pain to try and find an amazon return place there but we'll do it if we have to before he comes home.
It's been windy and cold here today. The cold part of the storm has arrived. Everything is pretty flooded. Trenches I dug out are running like rivers but there's so much run off and standing water the trenches can't keep up. Supposedly a little break in the rain Still have chores to do and tackle more house work. Really need to sit down and start working on taxes. Haven't touched them yet. Not sleeping at all right now. 15-20 minutes here and there isn't cutting it. Almost forgot I still have to bring in the goat stock and get it cleaned up (bones removed etc) and cooling so it can get put in the fridge so I can get the fat cap off tomorrow and get it on trays to freeze dry. Not sure what else I'll get done tonight. Would really like to get some sleep tonight. About the time I get some sleep DH will be coming home and then we'll be back on night shift. Really looking forward to getting moved and on normal schedules.
Guess I'd better get out and get to feeding. Hope y'all have a good night. :hugs

Hope he gets everything squared away at home, before he has to head back.

My advice, get some sleep, trying to get everything done, is not worth the detriment to your health. :hugs

He will. Sounds like he got the water tank all buttoned up the way he wanted vs what he was told to do and it seems to be much better. He's going to hold off on the water heater so he can research brands of the on demand systems and figure out which one is best instead of rushing into one. I agree with that decision. Not like we are there yet doing a ton of dishes/milking equipment etc. Then he can be sure he has all his ducks in a row and supplies on hand before starting. He did get a few furniture things I had already taken put back together or fixed in the case of our coffee table that didn't handle AZ roads well. He got them into the house from the basement. We have no idea where things will end up going but at least the house is getting a few things in it so we can figure it out and it's starting to look like a house not an empty shell.
I think I will take that advice. You are right.:hugs Might just go ahead and take a sleep aid (absolutely hate doing that) here in a bit and go to bed. Stock is strained and outside cooling so I can put it in the fridge before bed. Main chores are now done so I could just go to bed and maybe feel ready to tackle the day in the morning. Definitely not getting done nearly as much as I should be due to being so tired.
Off I go. Have a blessed day! :hugs
