    Dead kid

Good point I never thought about the corrid.... I do still kind of think it was a gut blockage, as when I was disposing of the guts I noticed that it was awfully bloated with poop, if that every happens again is there anything you can do? I've heard of tubing mineral oil

    Dead kid

The vets around here aren't goat savy at all. We sent a necropsy or two in before and didn't get back anything helpful and it cost an arm and a leg. Immediately after I posted I decided to go ahead and gut her. I put the guts in a bag and, being that she hadn't died of sickness and was fresh I...

    Dead kid

yesterday I noticed a kid pretty down and out so I separated her out gave her copper Bolus and some corrid thinking it was a little coccidiosis or something. Today my mom called me to tell me that she was thrashing around and screaming so I rushed home and by the time I got there she was dead. I...

    Name that predator

I put my game camera out to see if it would come back and it's a huge bobcat

    Name that predator

we have a predator that likes to drag its victims head through the bars, eat the head off and then leave. We heard a commotion out by the goose pen and went out to find our female sebastopal with her head pulled through and the skin ripped off the back of her head, so it must of grabbed her at...

This is why we can't have nice things....

That thing she is laying on is not a bed but a hay feeder..... Why as a fairly seasoned goat keeper I did not think to attach it better and add supports is a mystery.... Why we like them just the same no matter how much naughtiness they commit is a mystery also

cow milk replacer. Good or bad?

I'll maybe try cows milk. I brought home a kid today and none of my does have freshened yet so goats milks not an option quite yet.

cow milk replacer. Good or bad?

normally we get ultra 24 multi species milk replacer for our goat kids but it's anywhere from 28-40 dollars for an 8 pound bag depending on where we can buy it from which is expensive. This year wer going to be having a lot more kids then normal to bottle raise and I was wondering what some...

    Earth worm beds

We've considered them a couple times but I know from the sources we looked at they were kind of expensive to order monthly for us. We might this summer

    Peacock emergency

Listerine? He's not doing any worse, I think the water and electrolytes we've been giving him perked him up somewhat. I'm gonna give him some duramycin today. A couple months ago we had a bird bring in some mites and he was the only bird on the property we couldn't catch to dust, so when I...

    Peacock emergency

Tomorrow stores should be open again so hopefully I'll be able to get some antibiotics (if I have time I have a funeral most of the day). I tried picking the puss out with tweezers, I got some out but the flesh underneath is still to swollen for him to shut his mouth

    Peacock emergency

Probably not hydrogen peroxide because if he swallows it it might be bad. I know you give it to a dog to make it throw up because it expands in the stomach, wouldn't it maybe blow a birds stomach up because they can't throw up?
