Yesterday I got a lead rope out of the truck and called Buford. He came trotting up to me, I clipped the lead rope on him and we went to the truck. He was wagging his tail, climbed up in the back seat and happy! I keep the actual seat folded up and there is a metal tray that folds out. I put a blanket over that and that is where Carson rides.

Buford is scared when riding in the truck. Usually shaking, drooling and wanting out. Yesterday he was wagging his tail, head out the window sniffing the breeze, calm and happy. I took him about 10 miles, got out and walked him around. He loaded up great, I took him to the church and walked him around. He loaded right up and we went home. I was so excited! Buford did great!

I posted this on @peteyfoozer journal, and thought it belonged here on Buford’s journal, so I copied it.

I have worked with Buford sporadically, riding in the truck. I take him maybe 10 miles, get out, walk around, sniff, pee, back in truck. He finally, for the first time, was not trembling and drooling. He sniffed out the window, wagging his tail! I kept up a steady sweet talking and heaped praise on him.

I’m trying to get him ready for sperm collection. When the vet reached for his privates, he wasn’t having it and growled menacingly. So I’ve been working on that too. The look on his face the first time I reached for his ding ding was priceless.
MOM! NOOOOOO!!
So now I tell him, “ Let me see your ding ding”. And I give him a massage. Yeah, I’m a pervert. The things we do with our animals.

Eric has been telling me about a side by side breeding. That’s where the female is given a shot to bring her into heat. They know to the exact day when she will accept a male. So the vet and assistant park the dogs with nose to tail, collect the male, AI the female.
Why? Because the dogs are very valuable and breeders don’t want to leave a female in a strange place where she might be injured or escape. Some females will attack the male and injure him.

So that’s why I’ve been working with Buford, so he won’t freak out riding in the truck and so he won’t bite the vet, for playing with his ding ding. They gave me 3 plastic collection sleeves. I guess my next trick is …….. ahem, doing you know what to Buford.

Gee, I need to copy this and post it to Buford’s journal! BWAHAHAHA
