I really like the pepper spray idea, how far will it spray? What about bear spray?
Maybe you could drive around the area and see the dogs in their own yard, get the address and give it to AC.
I followed the dogs yesterday, but at one point the reversed and by the time I turned around I'd lost them.

A friend has offered to lend me a BB gun. I accepted.

Today I took Caleb for a ride to a local park.

I knew it had some paved walking paths, but discovered it had some nature trails as well.

He had a nice long walk, with lots of sniffing, and HE WAS RELAXED!

We will be going back.

That looks like such a nice area! Glad he was relaxed and enjoyed himself. That means you can be more relaxed and enjoy yourself too. 💞

Took Caleb out in the backyard, played some with the soccer ball. We had a "talk" when I took it away and he growled and grabbed my wrist. So then we practiced drop a few times.

And when I clipped him to the cattle panel while I checked for eggs, he expressed his feelings.

Blast. I liked that leash, had a padded handle.

You can sew it back together - burn/melt the ends then sew with a X in a box and you should be good to go.
Eons ago one of my dogs shortened a seatbelt. LOL couldn't fix that, but I have made working lines sewing on that type of material as well as tubular nylon.

Wouldn't I need a sewing machine? The leash is pretty thick.
