SSS... in your yard.... end of discussion...

Hopefully the sheriff's office will do something about it...

I am assuming there is a leash law there? I would carry a stick of some sort, like a broomstick handle... drill a hole in the end to put a leather strap type thing so you can carry it on your wrist... might help Caleb get used to it just being there and help him get over the scared of a stick thing, if it is just there.... and it would give you some extra protection if the dog were to come after you again.... like a "billy club" you see in the old movies that the british cops carried...

The neighbor behind me is a sheriff, and has chickens. I might walk over there tomorrow and talk to him.

NC is open carry. I need a holster.

Caleb did really well unwinding last night, chewing different toys, and resting in his crate. He only made one whimper, when I put him in his night crate.

This morning we had a couple walks around the backyard, with plenty of stops for sniffing, and then a brief foray alongside the woods on the south side of the property. If the loose dogs were to show up there's a gate towards the back of the property that I could use to get us into the backyard.

Caleb watched me feed and water the flocks, no yipping. Good.

Also this morning I had Caleb sit and wait just inside the back door, releasing him once I'd walked down the hallway towards the bedrooms. Good boy. Then he tried to remove a tissue from a box, delicately with his teeth. "Bad" boy!
:gig

Seriously, I am seeing lots of improvement, he's settling down.
:thumbsup

You said that you were going to limit his walks to the backyard because of the rotten dogs in neighborhood. Have you thought about loading him up in the car and going for a walk in a park? at the foster's, ?? I take Sage out to train in the early morning before the rest of the world wakes up. 6-7am ish. Just a thought - always thinking. May or may not be doable or doable in your area. I know a lot of places I used to go with Halo I won't even dare now because of the vagrants who have taken over public open space (not to mention how dirty it is now).

Thank you for the suggestions. We have a raincheck for a playdate with the foster mom's dogs. Technically Caleb is NOT supposed to run, jump, or do other "strenuous" activity for another week.

But I have a 50' leash, a soccer ball, and will start doing more once we're past the two week surgery restrictions.

Arnicare comes in PILLS 😱

.... rushing to amazon
I did the same! 😂
When I had knee replacement surgery, I used Arnicare cream on the back of my knee and up to the incision, plus the pills. They lasted 4 hours and took away almost all the pain. I was supposed to take hydrocodone every 6 hours, but only took 7, mostly at night to sleep. The Arnicare worked better.
This is the first time I've heard of this but i'm ordering it. Have the pills in my cart already. Adding the cream. Thanks for the information!
Be careful with Benadryl. They are now putting xylitol in some forms of it. This is a recent change
Wow. Hadn't heard this yet. Am due to buy some more here soon and wouldn't have thought to check the ingredients. Nothing is safe anymore. Sheesh. Thanks for posting this info!

Caleb and I had a good, long walk outside in both yards, with lots of sniffing, listening, he even got to howl when he heard sirens in the distance.

After we came inside and I was hanging up Caleb's leash I heard a rattling sound from the living room...Caleb had found a couple cookies in a bag by my chair. I said "What are you doing?" and he immediately jumped down from my chair and ran into his crate.

Caleb wasn't scared, I think he realized that he needed to put himself in Time Out!
