Since it was still chilly this morning I waited until after 11 to take Caleb to the park.
I walked him on the paved trail this time, which goes through two wooded areas, but circles all the ball fields and playground as well. We met a very well behaved doodle type dog on lead, sniffed noses, positive encounter.
Joggers ran by, but I made Caleb sit until they were past as a precaution. When we finished the circuit we walked through the empty playground. I took him up the steps of a large climbing structure, navigating metal stairs, lots of dangly contraptions to walk around, then back down the steps. We walked over to the swings, and I sat on one. It creaked as I swung a little, a new noise, but Caleb calmed quickly.
Good boy.
Then I drove to Parker's BBQ, and Caleb experienced a drive through.
Lady at the window said "Hi doggy"!
I parked the car to eat...and Caleb learned that putting his head on my shoulder as I ate resulted in nothing, but a good boy sitting quietly got pieces of bun tossed his way.
And he caught most of them!
Back at the house I put Caleb on his tie-out so I could feed Wisp, then check for eggs.
I think someone was a wee bit tired.
After we got inside Caleb went down the hall, looking for Debbie. He stood outside my bedroom, staring through the open door, and even balanced on his hind legs to see over the gate.
Suddenly he turned and ran back down the hall, with a puffed up Debbie close behind him. He came to me, acting as if he needed my "protection".
I don't know if Debbie came over or under the gate, but either way she managed to knock it off one of the hangers!
Then she rolled around, on her back, halfway down the hall. She's not scared of Caleb anymore.
Fantastic!! Eons ago my dogs worked in hospitals doing assisted therapy and PT with the patients. On the way home I'd drive through McD's burger and fries. I shared the fries handing a single fry at a time behind me. Those were good times.
