Coffee. Nectar of the sleepless. Had a great afternoon yesterday with friends. Got home right before dark to get animals fed. Annnnddddd my AC was blowing hot. It was 81F in the house. Can’t open windows because of tiny flea sized gnats that can go through the screens. I HATE those things! I called my son to gripe and he said just go to his house and sleep on the sofa. So I did, sorta. The sofa is a recliner sofa, not comfortable. Miserable. Woke up on a continuous schedule, finally gave up at 3 AM and came home. Still hot in here at 77F but it beats 81. I’ll be calling AC man this morning. And my truck is still parked in yard, sister in law now has a staph infection and barely getting around. Sure not up to hitching a gooseneck, loading truck and hauling it to the shop. Whine. Piss. Moan. And B!TCH.
But I have coffee! Out of cream, but I have coffee!
Why does the AC always die just when it's getting warmer?
:plbb

AC is a requirement here, the humidity is so high that opening the windows only makes it worse.

Was up earlier but fell back asleep. Moved to recliner around 4 am due to back pain. Hurting pretty bad right now but hoping it improves as there are things to do. Planning to drive myself and Boone to Burns for meds and chick feed. But if my back doesn’t get better that won’t happen. All night it sounded like popcorn as they pecked around on the metal bottom of their feeder. They are finally sated this morning. Poor little critters must have really been miserable not getting fed for 2 days. They were a week old so no longer living off whatever keeps them going at hatching.
Found paint for bathroom so getting dresser and towel cabinet painted first. Then once he fixes the window that has never been finished for 16 years (😑) I can get paint and paper on walls and one room of the house might actually get done.
I need to find a collection box to put next to the couch for when Boone has cookie withdrawals. There’s no room for all the stuff he sells me, he’s gotten too creative. Meds, TV changers, frying pans, books, shoes(in pairs!!!). Now he’s actually stealing laundry out of the hamper. 🫤 I hope he doesn’t start bringing furniture…

Up at 4:30 ish moving around not much after that. I planned on taking Sage down the hill (i.e. into town south of here) for some early morning training, so the get up time was good. Dogs all fed and walked and out the door by 5:45 (had to wait a bit - still dark and would be dark when I got to town). Into town and all searching done by 6:20, debriefed (read cappuccino and a danish) and done by 6:50. Getting serious with Sage's detection training.
Home and sheep fed and out and chickens taken care of all finished by 8:00. Let the day begin!
@peteyfoozer -- you are in trouble now - furniture will be next starting with small tables and footstools. And no - I didn't tell the unicorn what to start with! ;)

Anyone know what this is? Is very heavy but doesn’t slosh. Diesel fuel containers next to it.

@Baymule Should get one of those mini splits instead of fighting that old dinosaur AC system. If you get too warm you could crash in the camper here, high of 56°F today and if you stay at least a week you can get snow on Thursday here.
How many square feet will a mini split do? I’ve got 1400 sq ft. Afternoon sun bakes back side of house with 4 big windows. There’s film on the windows, it helps, radiant heat barrier under metal roof, it helps, but unit is a 1998 model, probably not worth fixing.

Deer feeder, it’s upside down, the galvanized pipe was the legs that attached by screwing on.
So the mysterious weighty substance may be a large, moldy mass of corn. 🤮 :sick
May wait til the dry weather of August to clean that. At least it’s not some bizarre petro-chemical muck I have to figure out what to do with. Hate to have wasted the corn but it’s in an unfit state. Don’t think I’ll even try to compost it. Thanks for the ID.
