Lol, the road closed sign. OH REALLY?! I HAD NO IDEA.
It's kind of late in the year for tornadoes, but man, tell that to nature lately. I'm glad you had your wits about you and you both made it. Hopefully the tornadoes missed you.
Not late for Montana, we seem to get them all the way till August.

I heard the ominous freight train sound starting to wind up and I knew exactly from experience what that is. Her from Washington state looking at me puzzled as I grabbed her, like what is that? One touched down near town too possibly.
Normal morning here, nothing like your night @Weldman I am glad you and wife are safe and ok.
I'm sure you have had your fair share of them. Wife thought I was just building a doomsday shelter that I fell off my rocker, nope not now.

Now you understand why that hole is so deep and has rooms down there.... No stairs really yet, so hence the meaning, tossed her in.

Climb up that backhoe arm!! Glad we don't normally have the weather extremes here. Mostly our worst events are hurricanes. Those can be intense but, usually they've ravaged to the south of us enough to have lost some violence. So long as one doesn't decide to travel S to N over the ocean & build up....they can be tough! Rains always flood though. I'm inland 50-60 miles now, that helps lessen the punch.

Rains all last week. Extreme heat & dry this coming week. A little mingling of those would have been preferred but, no one asked my desire :idunno :gigjust deal with it!

Got laundry done yesterday -- used the dryer! Late day, saw black clouds coming. Rushed out to milk a little early to be done. Good thing as it poured shortly after....thunder, winds & more rains overnight. Glad that's blown out for now. Need to mow lawn but, that's not happening for a few more days. Need some dry up!

Some steps and an escape hatch would be helpful. I always wonder how people are going to get out of their basement with tons of what used to be their house on top.
Our basement in Illinois had smallish windows with wells so you could get out. Newer codes require larger egress windows with access wells if the space is furnished.

Morning all. We are considering shelters as the weather seems to not be calming down but in fact calming up. Nerdy sci fi reference. It’s those rain wrapped buggers I hate. A storm should have the decency to display a funnel. Not slouch behind horizontal rain and hail.

This one has tunnels going every which way of multiple escapes, just trying to get time to bring them to the surface.

That’s an old picture to what it is now, no excavator to climb up.

We got the night time entourage, don’t bother looking for them, just listen.

No rain here today. Sunday morning we had almost 4" in a hurry. I had 1/4+ in the garage when I woke up in the middle of the night. I waited to go to town and still had to come home, switch to the truck and take a different route to town. I couldn't get close enough to see the main bridge around the corner. I walked across 1 spot to make sure the road wasn't washed out then noticed the water was 1/2 mile out of the bank. We stopped in a few places on the way home looking for fish that washed out over some pond dams. You could see the steeper spots where 4-5' higher earlier that morning.

The 4" of rain wasn't to bad, it was being on top of the other 9. I think April and May broke records on amount of rain here.

In Weldman's pic, I wonder how deep it was when that car tried to cross. A town North of me has an under pass like that. It has a large measuring stick on each side, so, if you drive into 4' of water you deserve to have your car stalled out.

I agree with Blue. I'd rather see them. I've been within a few miles of several in the same day and didn't worry until it got pitch black in the middle of the afternoon. I can sit and watch them a mile off and enjoy a cup of coffee, listening I'm just guessing where and how far it is.
