A cold breakfast was needed, so bruschetta inspired

Tomato, garlic powder, oregano, goat cheese, olive oil, whole wheat bread. Tasty. Fast. Cool cheeses.

Coffee brewed here at work. Monday is our orientation, new fellows in. I'm tying up loose ends, last minute changes, approvals for catering...etc.

Incubator held 100° all night. I'm planning on adding eggs this evening.

Morning all. I finally caught up on the last 10-12 pages. Been like everyone else's heat of 105 heat index dropping now to 90 with 97 index. Up at 3 kinda sucked, slept 5.30-6.30. Getting tired after it's time to get up.

Seven tires changed out on two semis, got some aluminum welding done and few other odds and ends which netted me for a 8 hour day of $272 not including the hour drive to town fuel in a 12 MPG truck.
I hate paying for 2 tires at a time and mine are smaller. Good news the dually's smaller tires fit the bigger horse trailer. Also I'm surprised you get 12mpg. I still barely get 12 mpg (11.5 when checked) with out my welder on it and a few mechanical upgrades. 7.3l ford motors in it and the farm truck.
Also with your tools and mechanical experience I'd do a few more mechanical upgrades, exhaust, turbo?, ccv that would get it past the 12mpg and really boost the pulling power.

I think I've mentioned this, but this is in more detail.
You may remember that I volunteer at our small town food pantry. With the County's Main Food Bank warehouse cut of $900,000 in Fed funds, all the pantries are struggling. I stumbled across two gals (there is a 3rd gal too) who have hobby farms. They each have sheep, cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, rabbits. These three women have a yearly contract with Costco near us, to haul away, every day of the week, all their discarded produce.

I made a verbal agreement with the first gal that if she had any human edible food for the food bank, that I"d drive up to her (6 miles up hill), take anything she is willing to pass on to fd bank, and then also I would take all of her massive cardboard boxes to the transfer station. She jumped on it!!

The second gal heard and said Oh Yoo Hoo!! I can give you stuff if you also take away these produce boxes!!

Its been going well.

I do skim off some things that I want for us. A package of mushrooms, two bags of broccoli, melons, strawberries, lettuce, etc. I have been freezing many items, dehydrating alot of it, and tomorrow I'll make mango salsa to can.

I take the boxes of produce to the food bank. Much of it they reject cus they are not "perfect". I roll my eyes, but the food bank is the one that has to bear the wrath of the clients who feel entitled to "perfect" food. I skim that rejected produce too, and the rest comes home to my 3 pallet long compost bin.

Tuesday afternoon, the food bank accepted 481 lbs of food that was good enuf for our clients, that Costco was discarding. They've never in my 4 weeks of doing this, accepted this much!!

This and my deep pantry of canned goods has really helped us with our food budget. And oh how I wish I could share with each of you.

I've asked the local grocery store for produce they're throwing away. They won't do it.

Trying to keep the truck stock as possible as it is ten years old, run it to 150k miles and trade it in As it being a chassis cab they derated the engine which I rather get a F600 that isn’t as derated since they are same size body as my F450 now.
Being a business truck, I can only put in my personal funds into any upgrades in that regard. At 330 hp and 950 lbs of torque, it’s a monster in itself for something that is hauling just tools around.
My gearing on this truck is 4:30 add in driving on gravel dirt roads, then the speed limit on the interstate is 80 mph and I weigh in around 11.5k lbs “empty” is all a recipe for poor mpg with 4WD.
