You work 8 hours to live 4.
You work 6 days to enjoy 1.
You work 8 hours to eat in 15 minutes.
You work 8 hours and sleep only 5.
You work all year just to get a week or two off.
You work all your life to retire in old age.
And when it’s all said and done, you’re left wondering… what was it all for?
We get so used to chasing success that we don’t even notice the chains we’ve put on ourselves.
You weren’t meant to just survive.
Life isn’t meant to be postponed.
It’s a short journey.
Make it count.
I've been working since I was 16, for pay except for a few years raising babies. I'm going to be 65 in August, and I am planning on retiring before the end of the year. I would like to enjoy my gardens, yard, house, critters while I am able. Lord willing.

Working on my second retirement right about now, or at least trying to. Running joke is I will be doing this till my 90's from the doctors.

Going to be 100°F today, I'm not turning wrenches today. A day of repairing my own stuff and getting my equipment to the next job site.
Oh and 3 more goslings hatched.

Coffee is ready. Taking my ex sister in law to doctor today in Lufkin. Monday I’ll take her to Houston. Our joke is, we both divorced her brother and kept each other. She lost her right leg to diabetes complications a month and half ago, I’m glad I’m able to help her.

🥰 I like that!

Usual -- :cafmorning. Waking casually.

Cooler today, thanks to a "cold front" coming thru. It's bringing a little rain -- half inch? -- that's fine. And appears we'll be in 80-85 temps for a week 👏👏

Pretty much in "retired mode" for a month or so. I'm loving it, wallet not so much. At least no hay to buy with pastures growing wild. That's a plus. Plenty of farm things need doing.

Better get to chores. Milking can only wait so long 😊 The job slack leaves me time to can, make cheese, etc. Colby & mozzarella are on my radar now. I'll get my winter supply made up while milk is plentiful.

Going to be 102°F today. Not too bad, I fought in chemical suits body armor loaded down full battle rattle, helmet and then some on weight in 120°F temperatures while marching across the desert at one time.
But you're not 20 anymore.

My dh worked in a tire plant for 11 years, 120° above the rubber, humid. He earned every dollar.

You bring to light things that people don't know or appreciate for what our service members do!! What they're subjected to & must endure. It's not just a uniform & salute. My dad & his 5 bro were all Navy. Maternal side uncle Army & sharpshooter assignments. I appreciate everyone and their sacrifices. 👏
