If you had insulation under there attached to that skirt the rising earth temperatures would help from freezing. Helps if the floor is insulated too. Just don't do like the idiots here do and put hay bales around your house. Swear people move out here to be stupider if that's possible, no wait it is possible. Got one that is building a house from hay bales covered in "cob" I mean half arse cob.
I've been "investing" in home improvements before I retire. It was always damp and moldy under the house, so I had a vapor barrier installed, all the foundation windows shut and insulated (not the high end option). Even when the temperature dropped to 20°F (cold for us!) it was 45° under the house last winter, no more frozen pipes!

We have a very very important oncology appt today, for hubs with his eye cancer in the very back of his right eye. He's in denial after six months of having shots in it to try to dry up the leaking tumor fluid. He thinks that the Doc said that the shots would work and maybe its not cancer. He's forgotten, but I'll let him hear it again today.

Todays appt will determine next steps - radiation, chemo, or removal of the eye.
I hope for the best outcome. I know you are on top of this and will be your sweet, gentle caring self.

8 years and this tent is still standing? :ep I have brought/brewed a pot of fresh coffee, and there are Krispy Kreme donuts on the counter. Well done, BYH.
Such praise! We do our best to keep the coffee and tea flowing and the group happy. We do clean up from time to time, have to keep the coffee shop neat and orderly. So nice of you to stop by! :woot

Good morning all! The clock just struck midnight, my time. I might have gotten 30 minutes of sleep, then something woke me (starts with a D) and then I started wondering if Dale took the garbage out, so I got up to check and now I'm on my couch wide awake... sigh! How's that for a run on sentence...lol
Hopefully I'll get sleepy soon and can get a little more rest.

I've done that...

Mid 50s here, walked through a steel-like spiderweb anchor line while exiting the house. They don't wipe off easily, bleh!

Forecast is for a low system to develop off the coast, rain for the weekend. Here's hoping it happens, as the soil is like dust below the first inch. :fl

Now, off to the main office to make coffee.

Dogs were barking last night. There is a young armadillo that has taken up residence in the yard. Dogs were going berserk one night ad I went out with a flashlight. Carson, nose to the ground, ran about, ending up at my car. Cowering under my car was a armadillo. I called Carson off, told the Anatolians GOOD DOG and went back to bed.

I didn't do much yesterday. I decided to take the day off. Went to my sister in laws, visited her, went to Lufkin to eat lunch at an all you can eat shrimp special. Got a few groceries for my SIL, took to her, came home.

Today I need to scrape out old hay from the covered hay bale cow panel hoop in the middle field and the one for @Margali sheep. Then place new hay bales. Need to make a cover for the bale I set in the front field night pen and I'm out of cow panels. They are all being used. I'll figure out something. Busy day today. Back to work.

I said I'd sleep in today, last week when I tried, I made it till my alarm went off at 6. Today... well my phone buzzed at 3:45 and it was somehow game over. Caffeine makes up for sleep I think. I did get to see a shooting star on my run, that was pretty cool.
Coaching today, going to be a long one, but that's that. After teaching about farm animals the last few weeks, I am starting to miss having a few of my own close by. But I knew that would happen when I came up here.

Hubbs off to the airport at a rudely early hour. The smart fridge, after a summer of misbehaving, has begun to make a racket periodically. Probably a fan. THE fan. So I spent part of yesterday moving food to the garage freezer. A small Frigidaire is in the utility room (came with the house). It will take care of us for awhile. And negotiations must begin with home shield who will, according to past experience leave no stone unturned on this planet and possibly others to locate an out of production part to a decade old planned obsolescence appliance. I remember when refrigerator s lasted 25 years easily. At least the Smarty is still cooling for now. First world problems :hide .

@fuzzi we're looking to get a couple inches here over weekend from that system. Hoping not the strong winds they're suggesting this far inland! Plus, I had planned to pick up rolls of hay Sunday. That's gonna be changed...ya don't haul in that. And there's a goat auction Sat, goats hate rain, so loading will be a wet rodeo. Rains Fri might make it muddy, too.

Much cooler today but sunny. That helps my mood.

My work portal has been a program mess all week. It's back up but I see I'm not going back to work until 10/20 😵‍💫. Ok that'll be about a month of no work. Wow. I'm having to adjust my life for this routine. It's mentally challenging. Constant plan changes.
