I woke up in the middle of the night with a sore throat. I finally got up, took some ibuprofen and am here at the computer. Where in the heck did I get a sore throat? I wasn't anywhere except the surgery center on Tuesday and then returned on Wed. OH MY GOSH!!! It just hit me while I was typing. I got it there!! Dang it all....

Hubs was very down yesterday, so I made him go with me on a drive. We were gone about 1.5 hours. We went down to the Vancouver waterfront. I drove here and there, so we could get glimpses of the Columbia River. We looked at trees, buildings, fancy apts, the water, PDX airport. I thought we had a nice time.

We got back and after a bit, I asked him if he enjoyed the drive. "it was OK" he said. Just OK? "Yeah, my leg hurt the whole time so I was uncomfortable." Deep sigh.....

. I am feeling a bit overwhelmed honestly right now. Being as we mostly only raise our own food it's important to put away as much as we can every season.
Overwhelmed is part of the process of moving after being in one place forever. Just when you think you're making progress, you turn your head and see the next pile of work to get through. You're doing amazing and you'll be in your new home soon.
@murphysranch Good idea going for a long drive to get out of the rut with DH. You did good.

Cool day again today, heading out to graze on the new green stuff coming up. 54-63 today. Ohhh wait -- new forecast says rain in 10mins. it IS windy out there and the radar doesn't look good. Perhaps the grazing won't happen. And besides - those new boots are sitting in the post office of course.
No chance of it tomorrow as I'm judging a scentwork/detection trial. Thank goodness it's just the next town over.

I’m so sorry, cancer is a terrible battle to fight. I lost my Daddy to cancer and for several years afterwards I was afraid my Mother would give up, she was just drained.

I lost my husband 4 years ago. I sold our 8 acre farm with a doublewide and bought 25 acres with a doublewide. It was a very hard time in my life. I doubled down and now have more to do than I’ll ever get done, it keeps me busy.

I’m glad you still raise your Highlands, you should start a journal just for them. I post a lambing thread every year, you could do that with your Highlands. ❤️
Yes. A journal may be just the thing that I need. I can't believe that it took me so long to come back here.

Breezy and cool today. The weather, not me.
My friend Arthur Itis is paying a visit courtesy of the norther that at least brought us some rain. Norther’s brother is due tomorrow afternoon so Arthur isn’t going anywhere soon. Hubbs is out of town so I’m hobbling through chores. At feed time last night I heard a big branch pop and fall. Sure enough the perimeter fence was mashed. Would have been a job to fix if the knee was working, out of the question now. Sheep can graze elsewhere. That corner has a big oak that’s mostly dead (Princess bride- which I must see in its entirety some day). Pocket change aside when I get better I may diagonal the fence away from that tree. It’s spooky. There evidence of a house there. Pieces of foundation and paver stones. A black walnut tree, beauty berry bushes and a spring is about 150 rugged feet west. Moses helped me back to the house. Funny how they know to do that. Sophie takes over when I’m inside. She was bugging me a couple of days ago before the knee really flared. I’ll pay attention next time and plan better. I’m getting along though. Lunch time yay. Have a good day everyone.

This isn't good for Texas horse folks.

Thank you for that. That is certainly the truth. As soon as the trailer is sealed back up the packing and loading will continue.

First.. REALLY!!! And you of all people! I mean, YOU used to dress funny! (Or at least hung out with those who did, as I remember from the wonderful shooting burning arrows incident).

Just THIS morning a couple of people in my coffee group quoted that movie!

"I mean it!"
"Want a peanut?"

While Arthur visits, sit yourself down, prop up your feet, and WATCH.

I love old spooky houses, and house remnants. Maybe there are irises in the spring? Are you sure there isn't an historical rose tucked someplace?

A huge metal cauldron rolled under a bush??? :celebrate:jumpy
