It's amazing the panic over this current virus. People are acting like it's a new one. Panic all around. We have a lot of "horse" people like that around here. Even clean up any poop piles in their pastures every day. I'll never forget the first time I saw someone do that. Blew my mind. Of course in a stall I get it but a large pasture?!The horse I just brought home came from a stables where no new horses have been added for 2 years, no horse has left and came back. So I felt safe that he is not sick. My new neighbors from Switzerland, the daughter is acting like I brought disease and pestilence to the neighborhood, they don't want me to even come over. I purely understand the need to take precautions, but this woman is paranoid. I saw her out in the field filling in hog rooted holes with a shovel for fear that her horses might get hurt. Gee, how the heck do wild horses survive in the rough country? I'm not going to trailer him all over the place and expose him. I will take him to the vet for a coggins test and I might get the vaccine, I will research that.
We were actually discussing that. That may be what we do. Tarps are always handy. Will be able to reuse it after moving. Going to need several very large tarps to do this but I think this might be the answer.Lay a long tarp on the floor, pack boxes on it. You want the "fold" to the front, pull tarp over boxes and duct tape it and tie it. Hint on corner grommets, wrap twine around the corner above the grommet or tie a knot at the corner, then wrap and tie twine above the knot.
That was our thinking until we started tossing around a a couple tarps. The amount of bags would be a lot to fill the trailer with boxes. It's definitely not off the list of possibilities along with the tarps.I was going to suggest industrial size/weight trash bags. A tarp makes more sense.
Watching as I'm typing this. Always watch these live streams. Have friends in KY that often are under watches. A little different thinking now that we are moving to where this kind of weather happens. This stream is hitting me a bit differently now.Storm watching eastern TX and Louisiana:
Good afternoon everyone!
Closing has been postponed. Was supposed to be today. Trying not to get frustrated. Mostly with those who are dragging things along as if this hasn't been happening over a month now. Engineer was out today and according to the sellers all was great which was expected. The mortgage company already had plenty of proof everything was done properly. Not sure why they thought to wait two days before closing to demand a report. The report should be in tomorrow. Hoping to still close by Wed. but not sure how that will happen now. We were supposed to sign today for Wed. closing.
Sitting down with some coffee for a few. Pumpkin in the oven baking. Still 8 or so more to go. Need to go out and process some sort of animals waiting for processing but not sure that will actually happen this late in the afternoon now. Maybe I'll get set up today and process the first group of chickens tomorrow. Get them cooking tomorrow night and stock started when they are done cooking the next day. Just need to decide if i'm canning or freeze drying the meat. Stock will take days and will be freeze dried into bouillon powder or plain stock. Need to check inventory and see what we need more of. There will be another round of chickens but we are waiting on them until we are closer to actually leaving so we can still have fresh eggs. Those will probably just go into the freezer until I have time at our new place. Have the breeding rabbits to process as well. Was waiting to be sure we are actually moving before doing them. Same with the remaining goats and sheep.
Y'all have a great rest of the day.
